Rosalind froze, almost blurting out something she shouldn’t have.
“Eloise just gave me a bunch of clothes, just now,” she muttered, trying to cover up. “Where? Clothes?” Christopher asked.
“She said she’d have her assistant mail them to me in a few days,” Rosalind replied.
Christopher’s voice softened, almost amused. “Why do you buy secondhand clothes from her? Is there anything you can’t afford?”
“She’s a star, Christopher. She only wears custom–made stuff, and she’s only worn it once. What’s wrong with that?”
Christopher gave a short laugh. “Next time, just tell me what you want. You don’t need to go through her.”
Rosalind wasn’t particularly interested, but Christopher seemed in a much better mood, pulling her into a store a though he were on top of the world.
She couldn’t understand why he was so happy.
She asked, “What’s going on?”
“Secrets,” he muttered with a smirk.
Perfect, everyone had their own secrets.
In their marriage, they were, in a way, even.
“By the way,” Christopher suddenly said, his gaze on her bandaged ear, “did I… hurt you last night?”
He looked at the gauze around her ear, guilt creeping into his voice.“Have you treated it?”
The physical clash between them last night had been intense, and though she’d been bandaged up in the hospital the dressing had somehow fallen off.
When Rosalind woke up this morning, the wound had still been bleeding slightly.
She’d slapped a Band–Aid over it.
“I’m fine,” she replied, nodding. “It’ll heal in a few days.”
“Why did you suddenly decide to wear earrings? You never liked jewelry before,” he asked, his brows furrowing
“I saw how good they looked on Latoya and thought I’d try it,” she said nonchalantly.
Christopher’s frown deepened.“I told you, I didn’t have anything serious with her. You don’t need to keep holdi onto that.”
“I’m not holding onto anything. Even if something did happen, it’s no different from me and Vernon,” she responded lightly.
Christopher fell silent for a moment before muttering, “Let’s drop it.”
At this point, Rosalind didn’t care whether or not something had happened between Christopher and Latoya.

Chapter 23
In his mind, she and Vernon were a done deal–an overnighe affair, no questions
And given that, the chances of him not having had something with Latoya were dim
Plus, Latoya had definitely been in their master bedroom. When Rosalind went to shower this morning, she had noticed signs that the bathtub had been used recently.
There were a few long brown hairs near the drain, the same color as Latoya’s hair.
Meanwhile, Rosalind’s hair, though long, was black and natural.
As they passed the jewelry section, the store manager, Latoya’s boss, was there.
With professional instinct, the manager’s eyes immediately landed on Rosalind, and she smiled, greeting her warmly. “Ms. Johansen, it’s so nice to see you. Latoya called in sick today, but I’ll be happy to help you myself…”
She paused mid–sentence when she noticed Christopher standing next to Rosalind, the big spender” who frequently visited and was clearly close to Latoya,
What was even more awkward was that now the big spender was holding hands with the rich woman.
The manager’s smile froze.
Rosalind, however, responded with a smile, waving a hand.“Thank you, but I’m not looking to buy jewelry today
The manager glanced between Rosalind and Christopher, unsure whether to greet him as well.
Rosalind asked Christopher, “Do you want to buy jewelry?”
Christopher quickly grabbed her hand and led her out of the jewelry section. “Let’s go look at clothes.”
Behind them, the jewelry store was buzzing with whispers.
The entire first floor of the mall was filled with various luxury jewelry stores.
Latoya had once been the envy of everyone. She had not only a wealthy sponsor but also a rich older woman wi doted on her.
