Gigi flinched and instinctively took a step back. She warily asked, “What are you doing here? Where is Rylan?”
With a mocking smirk, Catherine slowly stepped toward Gigi. “Rylan? Please. He’s not coming. It’s just you and me today.”
Gigi furrowed her brows, feeling unnerved. “What do you want from me, Catherine? There is nothing left to say between us.”
Catherine suddenly burst into wild laughter, her voice echoing through the empty warehouse with a haunting edge. “You think we’re done? You took everything from me, Gigi.
“You’re living it up as the spoiled princess of the wealthiest family, while I’m kicked out of the Hart family and left with nothing. I’m reduced to living like a beggar. How is that fair?”
Gigi’s anger flared up. “Seriously? I took everything from you? You’re the one who has been taking from me since we were kids. You turned me into a walking blood bank and made my life a living nightmare.”
As Gigi finished her sentence, Catherine whipped out a spray and blasted it in her face. She barely had time to react before everything went dark.
When she came to, she found herself completely tied up, and Catherine had a knife pressed against her throat. “I’ve called the Hart and the Carson families over. Let’s see just how much they really care about you now.”
A moment later, footsteps approached from outside the warehouse. The Carson family was the
first to arrive.

Kenny’s face was twisted with anger and sorrow. He spat through gritted teeth, “This isn’t the Catherine I remember. What made you become like this?”
Rylan said sharply, “You have to stop now, Catherine. Don’t continue down the wrong path. Gigi hasn’t done anything to deserve this. Let her go.”
Catherine acted like she hadn’t heard anything. She suddenly stopped and grinned in an unsettling manner. With the knife still at Gigi’s throat, she led Gigi to the door.
A moment later, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a remote. “None of you are getting out of here. I’ve got bombs hidden all around. One push of this button, and we all go down.”
Gasps rippled through the warehouse. No one expected Catherine to resort to using bombs.
Before anyone could react, Catherine shoved Gigi inside the warehouse, tossed the bomb in after her, spun on her heels, and locked the door.
In the blink of an eye, the bomb exploded at Gigi’s feet. Everyone rushed toward Gigi in a panic. “Gigi!”
