Chapter 15
Wesley opened the door. “Why don’t you come in and catch some rest?”
Donovan, Kenny, and Rylan were all visibly relieved and quickly helped Meredith into the house. After a few sips of water, Meredith slowly came to.
She looked around, then immediately grabbed Gigi’s hand. “You finally let us in, Gigi. Does this mean you have forgiven us?”
Gigi jerked her hand back. “No. I don’t forgive you. I only let you in so you wouldn’t drop dead outside my house.”
Meredith’s eyes dimmed in an instant. Donovan and Kenny lowered their heads in silence.
Rylan looked up, his eyes bloodshot. “I know I hurt you deeply, Gigi. You have every right not to forgive me, but I won’t give up. I’ll wait here on this island as long as it takes-until the day you forgive me.”
Gigi locked eyes with Rylan. “Do you hear how crazy you sound, Rylan? You’re the heir to the Bowen family. Are you ready to give all that up to stay on this island with me?”
She figured that would scare him off, but he didn’t even blink before responding, “Yes.”
Donovan, Meredith, and Kenny quickly got to their feet. “We feel the same way, Gigi. We don’t want anything but your forgiveness. Please come back to the Hart residence with us.
Gigi shook her head. “I’m not going back with you. Stay here if you want, but I’ve already
decided to leave.”
Back then, she ran off to this island to shut the world out completely. But now, she had had a change of heart after Anthony, Julia, and Wesley pulled her out of the darkness.
Just yesterday, Wesley said there were still things he had to deal with back home. He had to go back and wanted Gigi to come along.
She wavered at first. But then he told her that if she stayed, they would stay as well. Seeing them so willing to give everything up for her, she couldn’t help but smile.
Where they were going wasn’t important. What mattered was being with the ones she wanted by her side. So she decided to leave the island with the Carson family.
Rylan didn’t take it well when he heard Gigi’s decision. It never crossed his mind that she would be willing to leave so easily just because of something Wesley said.
Rylan and the Harts stayed outside the house for three days and three nights, but they still couldn’t earn a shred of her forgiveness. Just then, something in his chest gave way.
Chapter 15
Rylan had a sinking feeling that Gigi might never be his again, but he couldn’t accept it. He quickly added, “We’ll go wherever you go, Gigi.”
Three days had passed, and Gigi left the island with Anthony, Julia, and Wesley. The Hart family came after them, with Rylan in tow.
Right after getting off the plane, Gigi got into the Carson family’s ride. Wesley stepped in just as Rylan and the Harts tried to follow. “Sorry. We’re heading to a private property. You’re not allowed in.”
They realized it wasn’t a good idea to push it. After days without rest, they didn’t even have the strength to stand, let alone win Gigi over. They backed off, thinking there would be other
chances.
Gigi had already guessed from the way the Carson family talked that they were rich and influential. But the moment she stepped into their residence, she was still blown away.
She always assumed the Hart and Bowen families were already at the top of the social ladder, but she was dead wrong. The Carson family lived in a real castle.
Her jaw dropped at the lavish scene before her-grand ceilings, dazzling chandeliers, elegant murals, and museum-worthy antiques. Every detail spoke volumes about the Carson family’s fortune and prestige.
Anthony smiled at Gigi. “This is your home now, Gigi. Make yourself comfortable. Treat it like your own.”
Julia warmly took her hand and showed her around the house. Wesley quietly walked at her side, his eyes full of affection and care.
