Chapter 10 

Doris shouted, “Ms. Catherine had all of you wrapped around her finger! 

“It was always Ms. Gigi who hand-made those candles for your insomnia and headaches, Mr. and Mrs. Hart. Ms. Catherine just took the credit. 

“Back when the earthquake hit, it was Ms. Gigi who pulled you out from under the debris without a second thought for her own safety, Mr. Kenny. Ms. Catherine just pretended she was 

the one who did it. 

“Also, it was Ms. Gigi dancing in the garden, but Ms. Catherine claimed it was her and misled Mr. Bowen.” 

Everything Doris said hit them like a ton of bricks. Rylan and the Harts were rooted to the ground, their faces a mix of utter shock and gut-wrenching regret. 

They never could have imagined the truth would be this brutal. 

Catherine’s face became as white as a ghost’s. Glaring at Doris in horror, she roared, “Stop spouting nonsense, you old hag! I didn’t make any stuff up. I didn’t take credit for anything. That was all me.” 

Doris flashed a wry smile. “You know the truth, Ms. Catherine. Ms. Gigi grew up without love. Her parents, her brother, and even her fiance never truly loved her. But Ms. Gigi’s actions unnoticed. Even though we are just housekeepers, we saw everything.

“One day, I asked her why she didn’t tell the truth. She told me that there was no point and that no one would trust her. Others loved only Catherine, and nobody cared about her. She 

even said she wished she had never been born.” 

Those words nearly knocked the wind out of Rylan and the Harts. 

That was the last straw for Catherine. She shot to her feet and jabbed her finger at Doris, “How dare you twist the truth, you old hag? Gigi must have paid you to make up stories.” 

Doris gave a mirthless chuckde, responding with measured calm, “You’re getting one million dollars every month, Ms. Catherine. Gigi barely scrapes by on 600 dollars. How could she possibly afford to bribe me? I’ve worked with the Hart family for so long. Honestly, I can’t keep watching you hurt Ms. Gigi like that.” 

Rylan and the Harts were even more rattled after hearing what Doris said. 

Rylan asked, his voice trembling, “You’re telling me Gigi’s monthly allowance is only 600 dollars?” 

Donovan and Meredith exchanged a glance, their voices quivering with emotion. “We never 

gave her a set amount. We only handed her a few hundred when we happened to think of her.” 

Unfortunately, Gigi barely crossed their minds. Most of the time, their whole world revolved around Catherine. 

Kenny’s face was drained of color. Out of nowhere, images of Gigi’s ragged clothes, beat-up shoes, and the times he saw her doing part-time work came rushing back. 

Worst of all, he chewed her out back then. As a member of the Hart family, how could she take on lowly part-time jobs? Weren’t the family supporting her? 

At that time, she didn’t say a word and just lowered her head, but her eyes were red with tears. 

Looking back now, wasn’t it because they never gave her money? Since she always had to be ready to donate blood to Catherine, she couldn’t even have a normal job or social life. 

His head was ringing, and the weight of emotions in his chest made it hard to breathe. 

Catherine realized she was losing the argument and hurried over to her family in a panic. “I’m your family, Dad, Mom, Kenny. I’m the one you love, Rylan. How could you take Doris’ word over mine?” 

They never would have believed it. But just ten minutes ago, they had overheard Catherine making that phone call. She bragged about how she pretended to be injured to drive Gigi away. 

It was the first time Donovan, Meredith, and Kenny turned away from her, disappointment 

written all over their faces. 

Rylan’s face was grim as he dialed a number and spoke into the receiver. “I need you to look into something.” 

Right then, Catherine collapsed to the ground. She knew she was done for.
