Chapter 16 – The Public Humiliation 

After the board members left I was still shaking with humiliation. How dare that bitch lay a finger on me before all these people?! 

Donald arrived shortly with a frown and I saw the red mark on his cheek. 

‘Did she do this to you?” I asked him. 

He shrugged, “It’s nothing.” 

was mortified, “Who does she think she is? How could she do such and get away with it? She as no real power so what is going on here?” 

Calm down, Lily,” my father said.

I don’t know what’s going on but Kira is acting like she’s untouchable. But right now I need to ake you to the hospital so you can go for a scan and know how you’re feeling,” Donald said.

We arrived at the hospital and went straight to see the doctor. 

Whenever we arrived to see the doctor, Troy would always look cheerful but today he had a ullen expression. 

What’s wrong?” Donald asked him.

smirked, I loved the fact that Donald was always supporting me especially in public. He’s my erfect sweetheart and pawn. 

I honestly don’t know, man, we did something to her so maybe I deserve it,” Troy said.

I scoffed, this guy already looked like trouble and it seems he needed to be eliminated soon. I didn’t want anyone dragging us down. 

He finished the ultrasound and declared that my baby was healthy. Donald tapped his hand and gave him a nod. 

“You have to go to the police and inform them someone is threatening you,” Donald said to him. 

Troy nodded but I knew he would never do it which is why he needed to be eliminated soon. “What do you think?” Donald asked me, when we got into the car. 

I shrugged, “I think you need to get rid of Troy or he’ll drag us down with him.” 

Donald nodded, “Yeah, I think you’re right but don’t worry about it. What do you want to do next?” 

‘I’d like to go shopping. Your house reunion is tomorrow and I don’t want to show up looking acky,” I answered. 

Donald agreed and dropped me off at the shopping mall with his black card. 

‘Buy to your heart’s content, Princess,” he said to me and left.

A particular gown caught my attention and just as I was about to take it someone else beat me

The person stepped out from behind the mannequin and I saw Kira staring at me with a smug smile. 

What are you doing here?” I glared at her. 

She chuckled, “The cameras are off now and suddenly you aren’t concerned about my well-being again.” 

‘If you have any sense of dignity you’d know that you’re not supposed to be outside. You should be hiding especially after everything that has happened,” I grinned. 

Kira laughed, “I don’t have any dignity left, Lily, you and your people made it so.” 

‘Just take your filthy hands off my dress and don’t think for one moment that I’ve forgotten what you did to me today,” I said. 

Kira grinned, “I hope you don’t ever forget it because I’m going to do a whole lot worse to you.” 

dragged the dress from her and rushed to pay. The salesgirl stared at both of us. 

‘You want to sell your dress to her? She’s a slut and a cheat,” I yelled. 

The salesgirl looked confused as she stared between us while Kira kept grinning. 

“Be careful, Lily, you have no proof of your accusations,” she said. 

The salesgirl took my card and beeped it while I grinned but instead the salesgirl frowned. 

“I’m sorry miss but your card was declined,” she said. 

I frowned, “Try it again.” 

Reluctantly, the salesgirl tried the card again but she gave me the same response.

“Declined,” she announced with a scowl. 

I was already panicking when Kira burst into laughter beside me. 

“Aren’t you the new CEO of Maple Group and engaged to Donald Reeds? So you don’t have money to buy a dress that’s just forty thousand dollars?” she asked in a mocking voice. 

At the mention of Reeds and Maple Group, the customers in the store started staring at me and pointing fingers. 

“Shut your trap, Kira!” I hissed at her. 

I kept trying to call Donald and text him but he wasn’t replying. I was already panicking wher Kira pushed me aside. 

“Here’s my card. Charge for this gown and charge for the newly customized designer gown tha just came in from Paris. I want something that hasn’t been tainted by this poverty-stricker woman,” she said. 

I scoffed, “We both know you’re the poor person here. This dress costs forty thousand dollars and I can afford hundreds. It’s just the network that’s disturbing my card. Besides, there’s no wa you have forty thousand dollars and an extra one million dollars to spend on a dress,” I mocked. 

I was still talking when the card beeped and the salesgirl smiled at Kira, printing out a receipt. 

“Transaction successful, Miss. Here’s your dress,” the salesgirl said. 

I scoffed, shocked, “There’s no way she could have afforded that dress. She probably stole someone card or -” 

A sharp slap from the salesgirl cut me short and I gasped as people brought out their phone and started recording. 

“How dare you? Do you know who I am?!” I yelled. 

“Yes, you’re the poor customer who can’t pay for her dress and who insults our highest paying customer,” the salesgirl snapped. 

“You’ll regret this!” I yelled at her. 

“Security, throw this woman out!” the salesgirl said. 

My eyes widened in horror as they dragged me out while Kira followed me giggling. 

When they threw me outside she tossed the dress I had initially wanted at me. 

“Here’s your dress, Lily, wear it knowing I bought it with my money,” she grinned and walked 

away.
