Chapter 15 – The Confrontation 

Kira’s Pov 

saw the way they all looked at me, their eyes widening in shock and confusion. 

Before I arrived at the office, I had seen the news headlines that painted me as the unfaithful spouse when it was the other way around. 

Should we debunk this rumor?” Ginny had asked me. 

We were just arriving at New York airport when she showed me the ipad with the news. headlines. 

Why do you think they’d want to do this?” I asked her. 

Sinny shrugged, “I guess to discredit you especially after some random blogger wrote about .ily.” 

nodded, “There’s no need to debunk it, Ginny, my uncle has more than half of New York media ir is pocket. They’re always willing to spin a story for him as long as he can pay.” 

So what are we going to do? We can’t let the world think you’re a cheat when it’s clearly Donnie,’ Ginny said. 

We’re going to the office. I’m certain they’re doing the handover which is why they decided to liscredit me,” I stated. 

And that was how we arrived at Maple Group instead of going straight to my hotel room. 

What are you doing here?” Donald asked. 

The board members were equally shocked to see me as they all struggled for what to say. We thought you ran away,” Henry said in a fatherly voice, “I’m so happy to see you’re fine.” Cousin!” Lily exclaimed excitedly. 

Before anyone could stop her she flung herself into my arms. I didn’t waste any time, I slapped 

er twice before pushing her off. 

She collapsed to the ground in shock, tears running down her cheeks. Everyone stared at me in 

Jorror. 

How dare you touch her?!” Donald thundered coming toward me. 

Take two more steps toward me and you’d regret it,” I said to him. 

He stopped short, surprised I was talking back at him and not cowering. 

What has gotten into you? Your cousin is happy to see you and this is how you treat her?” he queried. 

“I don’t have time for your antics,” I said sharply, then I walked into the boardroom and sat down. “Twenty-five years, that’s how long my father poured his heart and soul into this company and you take it away without a single thought and give it out to someone who doesn’t deserve it,” I said in a cold voice. 

“Ms. Maple, you disappeared, there are controversies on the internet. There are a lot of things we don’t know about, we didn’t know what to do,” one of the board members said. 

Chapter 15- The Confrontation

“But you know my parents died and barely two weeks after their deaths these vultures are already circling,” I snapped. 

“Mind your language, Kira!” Henry yelled. 

I scoffed, “Or what are you going to do, huh? Kill me like you killed my father? Or cripple and kill me like you did to my mother?” 

“I will not allow you to keep slandering my name, Kira, you’re my niece and I will forgive you but if you continue like this I will deal with you!” Henry thundered. 

scoffed, “You have the nerve to stand there and deny what you did to my parents.” 

A small smile formed on my lips, “I only came to congratulate you and your daughter. You’ve inally gotten what you wanted.” 

stopped up and walked to the door, Ginny handed me my purse and we walked away leaving 

hem to keep staring at us. 

But I didn’t get far, the moment I left before I could join Ginny in the elevator someone dragged ne back. 

Ms. Maple!” Ginny exclaimed but the elevator door had already closed. 

turned to see Donald staring at me with a frown. 

What do you want?” he asked me. 

pushed him away, “Get your filthy hands off me!” 

Tell me what you’re planning, Kira. How can you just show up here to wish us congratulations when you’ve been in the UK?” he asked me. 

arched my left brow and smiled, “So you’ve become so jobless that you’re now keeping track of 

ne.” 

I’m just here to warn you. Whatever you’re planning, stop it. You’ve lost everything, you have othing left. Come back with me and apologize to everyone and I will consider forgiving you,” Donald said. 

My hands moved faster than my brain could keep up and I landed a slap on his left cheek, eaving my palm imprints. 

Donald was too shocked to speak as he stared at me. 

If you ever utter such stinking words to me again I’ll have your tongue,” I said and walked away. Come back here, Kira, you’ll regret this!” he yelled. 

Just as I entered the elevator I smirked, “I think you’re the one already regretting it, Donnie, see 

you soon.”
