Chapter 12 – The Proposal 

I didn’t know what I was expecting by coming here. I didn’t exactly expect him to agree to help me but I had hoped he would. 

I needed all the evidence I could get even though I knew that the law wouldn’t be able to give me the justice I seek 

I know my uncle well enough to know that he may not have been wealthy like my father but he had powers and friends in high places. 

But I most certainly didn’t expect him to propose something like this, 

“It’s a preposterous ideal” I snapped. 

“What better way than to be introduced as my wife to be, especially with Donald there, he’s going to be so pissed,” he said. 

I stared at his smirking face and gleaming eyes filled with mischief, 

In another life I would have fallen heads over heels in love with his handsome features but now I needed to stay focused and I couldn’t afford to feel love again because it almost ruined me. 

“Why does it seem like you’re enjoying yourself over this?” I asked him. 

He shrugged, “Well, because I am. It’s like you said, I’d have a front row seat to see the look of disbelief and anger on their faces.” 

“There are other ways to do that without introducing me as your wife-to-be,” I stated. 

He frowned, “Are you backing down now, love? A while ago you seemed ready to commit murder but you aren’t willing to be my fiancee to achieve your aim?” 

He was standing before me now and I found myself moving backwards until my back hit the wall and there was nowhere to go. 

“Ever heard of personal space?” I retorted. 

He shrugged, “Why? Are you scared of being close to me, love?” 

My face scrunched up as I pushed him away, my cheeks heating up. 

“This is strictly business nothing personal,” I stated. 

He nodded, “Of course that’s why it took you a minute to finally take your hands off my chest.” 

I cleared my throat, “Stop assuming nonsensol” 

“Then why won’t you accept my plan? It’s the best way to introduce you to the family and it will give us the satisfaction of watching them choke” he stated. 

I thought about it and for some reason it just didn’t sit well with me. 

“I don’t know, isn’t there another way?” I asked. 

He smirked, “Why, Princess? Are you scared of being alone with me?” 

“Why should I be scared of you? I’m just considering a lot that’s all,” I said. 

“Well if you’re not scared what’s the worst that could happen? Are you in or out?” he demanded, 

I sighed, he’s right. What’s the worst that can happen? It’s just a fake marriage proposal.

“Fine, I’m in. Are we flying back to New York together?” 

“Nah, I’ll meet you there I have some things to tidy up here,” he said. 

I nodded and left his office. Ginny was waiting for me outside with a smile. 

“How did it go?” she asked. 

I shrugged, “Everything is working according to our plan except he proposed we pretend like we’re engaged.” 

Ginny frowned, “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” 

I shrugged, “What’s the worst that can happen? We need his help to exact our revenge.” 

Ginny nodded, “When are we going back to New York?” 

‘Tomorrow. I believe that’s when Lily and Donald will try to take over Maple Group,” I answered. 

‘What about your uncle? What’s your next plan with him?” she asked. 

A dark smile suddenly appeared on my lips, “Accidents happen in prison a lot of time.” 

‘He’s been granted bail. They’re saying the men lied against him,” Ginny said. 

Anger flashed in my eyes as I turned to her, “When did this happen?” 

About ten minutes ago.” 

Fine, he wants to leave prison. It will only make killing him easier and I’ll make sure his daughter is there to watch,” I hissed. 

And your aunt?” 

She’ll face the same fate as my mother. I’m dishing back the same thing they dished me and ny family, I answered. 

We returned back to the vacation house and Ginny presented me with some documents. 

I got everything out from the flash drive. With what you have and Damon you should be able to uín Donald, Ginny said. 

nodded, “Yes but it seems ruining them isn’t going to be enough. The public doesn’t seem to be able to help me. My uncle keeps slipping away but this time I won’t let him.” 

But your uncle wasn’t the one who sent those men,” Ginny said. 

‘I know that Lily sent them but I don’t think there’s any more fitting punishment than to see a ather pay for the sins of his daughter,” I replied, grinning.
