Chapter 4 

The next few days, Marcus suddenly got super busy. 

Wouldn’t answer his phone, didn’t show up to work. 

His assistant called me while I was working late. 

“Mrs. Sinclair, I really shouldn’t be bothering you with this.” 

He sounded unsure. “But Mr. Sinclair hasn’t dealt with any business stuff for days now. There’s a ton of paperwork waiting for his signature.” 

I stood up. “Got it.” 

The Sinclairs and Whitmores weren’t just old family friends-our businesses were tied together too. 

If Marcus kept this up, it was gonna hurt my family’s company eventually. 

I didn’t even think twice before driving to that nightclub. 

The owner came out to meet me personally. 

He said Marcus had booked the VIP room and specifically asked for Amanda to work his table. 

The door was cracked open-I could see it was pretty wild in there. 

Amanda was standing all awkward in the corner, looking real uncomfortable. 

Some guys kept messing with her, saying gross stuff. 

She wanted to ask Marcus for help but kept biting her lip, trying to tough it out. 

That whole playing-hard-to-get thing was clearly driving everyone crazy. 

And Marcus was just lounging back on the couch, all casual. 

Blowing smoke rings, eyes locked on Amanda through the haze. 

His gaze went from her face to her neck, then down her bare arms, slowly working its way down until he was staring at her pale legs. 

That hungry stare wasn’t hiding anything-like he wanted to devour her right there. 

For work, Amanda was dressed pretty skimpy today. 

Tight tank top and a tiny skirt, with beat-up white sneakers. 

The owner was sweating bullets. “Ms. Sinclair, I swear I had no idea about this.” 

“It’s fine.” 

I just stood outside, not making a sound. 

Then one clueless guy who didn’t seem to like Amanda’s way of selling, just reached out to grope her. 

Next second, he got his head bashed, blood pouring out. 

Marcus clocked him. 

He grabbed a bottle lightning-fast and smashed it right on the guy’s head. 

The smell of booze and blood mixed together while Amanda screamed. 

Everyone freaked out. 

The crazy lights were flashing everywhere, cutting through people’s vision. 

Marcus stood in front of Amanda, still holding the broken bottle. 

That tall, lanky figure glowed like it was coated in some shiny glaze-just… really charming, hard to put into words. 

Amanda was totally shaken up too. 

She threw herself into Marcus’s arms, sobbing her heart out. 

“Marcus, I screwed up! I’m so scared without you! 

“I never want to leave you again-I don’t care what we are, I’m sticking with you!” 

The AC suddenly blasted cold air right in my face. 

The owner kept trying to read my expression, looking nervous as hell. 

The two of them were hugging, like they were pouring out everything from being apart so long. 

Finally Marcus didn’t hesitate for a second-swept her up bridal style, ready to walk out. 

Then his eyes met mine. 

He froze. 

I walked in, my heels clicking like torture in the dead silence. 

“Babe…” 

Amanda bit her lip, tears in her eyes. 

But I’m a woman too-I caught that flash of pride and victory on her face. 

I reached for the bottles on the table, testing the weight of each one. 

Until found one that felt about right. 

With everyone watching, I smashed it hard against Marcus’s forehead. 

He never saw it coming-his eyes rolled back as he dropped like a sack. 

Amanda, who’d been in his arms, face-planted straight onto the floor. 

I grabbed Marcus’s jacket and covered up where her skirt had ridden up. 

I told the stunned owner coldly, “Get them both to the hospital.”
