Chapter 7
Damon looked like he’d been struck by lightning, unable to believe what was happening right in front of him.
He stared into my eyes desperately searching for answers, his eyes immediately turning red and watery, like he was in complete agony.]
“Seraphina?”
“I got married ages ago, and this baby isn’t yours! You’re just living in your own delusional fantasy world“]
Damon still refused to accept it:]
“That’s impossible! We never broke up – how could you do this behind my back? This isn’t who you are.
You’re lying to me, right?“]
I told him firmly one more time:[]
“We were done the moment you started that fucked–up ranking system! I quit your twisted gamer
“You’re juggling God knows how many women, and you have the audacity to come after me? Are you insane?!
Reality finally hit him. The devastated look in his eyes was replaced by pure panic.
“I was just… I was just messing around, talking big in front of my bros.”
“We’ve been together for so many years. You saved me when I had depression.”
“We’ve been through so much together- how could I not want you?”
I actually laughed – couldn’t believe he still remembered everything I’d sacrificed for him.]
He came from money, but as the middle child with an older and younger brother, he wasn’t exactly the favorite]
When he and his little brother went to play by the river, his brother fell in and drowned. Damon tried everything to save him but could only bring back his body.]
After that, he became the family scapegoat. His parents blamed him for everything.
Living in the Blackwell house was like being in hell – nothing he did was ever right.||
His parents even gave the entire inheritance to his older brother and kicked Damon out of the family.
That was his freshman year of college – the same year we met and fell in love.
His family cut off his tuition and living expenses, and combined with the trauma, he developed severe depression and became suicidal.]
At that time, I was his desk partner and could see his mood changing every single day.
I was the one talking him through it, trying to cheer him up, sharing half my meals with him, secretly working three jobs to pay for his school and therapy.
He used to say his life belonged to me forever.]
As long as he was breathing, he could never leave me.]
I don’t doubt those feelings were real back then, and I don’t regret what I gave him.[]
That’s just who I am- when I love someone, I give them everything.
It wasn’t just because he was Damon Blackwell.[]
Finally realizing he’d lost me, he started begging pathetically:]
“Success went to my head – I shouldn’t have cheated. I shouldn’t have made the same mistakes every guy makes.“[]
“I don’t want Chloe anymore! I’ll cut her off completely! Seraphina, please come back to me.
“I’m begging you… please…”
His voice cracked, his face flushed red, looking like a lost, panicked child.
Thaddeus mocked him:[]
“You’re a piece of shit – don’t drag all men down to your level.“[]
“Let me be crystal clear, Damon Blackwell: Seraphina is my wife now. If you keep harassing her, you’ll have to deal with me.”
With that, Thaddeus took my hand and started walking away.
That’s when Chloe suddenly blocked our path.]
She had the nerve to demand, like she’d completely lost her mind:[]
“Fine, you can leave, but I’m done taking the blame for you! I’m only this pathetic because of you!”
“You need to pay back that eighty million! That money is what you owe me and Damon!”
I was so furiou
so furious it was actually funny. Where did this bitch get the nerve to demand eighty million from me?
I was completely confused about whatever bullshit she was trying to pin on me now!
Then Damon pushed Chloe irritably:]
“Shut the hell up! This has nothing to do with you!“]
