At the entrance, Fu Yan’an arrived at the Welfare Home with a few assistants. The Fu Corporation had always been committed to charitable activities and supported hundreds of orphans in the welfare home.
The head of the welfare home received a notification and hurriedly came out to greet them.
Captivate him
“Mr. Fu, glad to have you here,” greeted the director with a respectful tone.
Fu Yan’an nodded, taking confident strides into the premises. Laughter of children resonated, pure and delightful. His eyes roamed, landing on Su Wei, a sight that sparked a tinge of surprise.
The evening sky showcased a vibrant sunset, casting a gentle glow. Su Wei, with her high ponytail and the cheerful company of children, resembled an earthly fairy, spreading joy.
“Mr. Fu?” The director’s voice brought him back. “Any other benefactors joining us today?”
“Referring to Su Wei and Nuan Nuan, I presume? They were once residents here, so they frequently visit and generously contribute to our facilities,” explained the director.
“Both orphans?” Fu Yan’an raised an eyebrow.
“Yes. Later, they found homes with different families,” responded the director.
In the midst of this, Su Wei and Nuan Nuan noticed Fu Yan’an’s arrival.
“Oh, Wei Wei, look who’s here. Quickly, go say hello, showcase your charming self, and captivate him,”
teased Nuan Nuan in Su Wei’s ear.
Su Wei playfully rolled her eyes, fixing her stray hair. She gestured for the children to continue playing and walked over.
“Mr. Fu, what a coincidence.”
The girl’s rosy cheeks radiated innocence, her sparkling eyes brimming with youth.
Fu Yan’an observed her attentively. After encountering countless artificially delicate women, Su Wei seemed genuinely different.
Suddenly, a cry from nearby caught their attention.
“Sister Wei Wei, quickly move away!”
Su Wei turned to see a soccer ball hurtling toward her. She froze, but in an instant, someone pulled her into a warm embrace. A faint scent of mint enveloped her.
Looking up, Su Wei met the deep, bottomless gaze of a man.
“Apologies, apologies, exerted too much force.”
Nuan Nuan rushed over, stifling her laughter as she observed the entwined pair.
Captivate him
away.
Once Su Wei snapped back to reality, she realized she was still in Fu Yan’an’s arms. Hastily, she pushed
“Thank you, Mr. Fu.”
The soft touch vanished, and Fu Yan’an shot her a glance before adjusting his attire.
“Next time, be more nimble. Don’t stand like a wooden stake waiting to be hit.”
Su Wei remained silent, withholding her thanks.
As Fu Yan’an and his entourage continued their tour, Su Wei grabbed Nuan Nuan. “Nuan Nuan, you did that on purpose, didn’t you?”
“Pardon? What are you talking about, on purpose?”
“Stop pretending!”
“Hehe, I just wanted to test him, see if he’s a true hero, if he’s hopelessly scummy.”
“Well, thank you for that.”
“Don’t mention it.”
The two left the welfare home, heading to a newly opened upscale restaurant named Royal Garden. Upon entering, they encountered someone unexpected.
Almost got my neck twisted by her
Wei.
“Vivi, you’re here for dinner,” greeted Wu Xiaoxi, clad in a waiter’s uniform, smiling as she welcomed Su
Su Wei was surprised, “Xiaoxi, did you find another part-time job?”
“Yes, to earn some extra income.”
“You’re such a diligent kid,” Su Wei praised her.
She knew Wu Xiaoxi was born in a remote mountain village, with an average family background. Through her own efforts, Xiaoxi made it out of the mountains and got into Jiangcheng University. She usually worked multiple jobs, not just for herself but also to support her childhood friend in establishing a company.
“Where would you like to sit? Is it okay by the window?” Wu Xiaoxi led them to a window-side table. Su Wei and Ye Nuanuan sat down, introducing themselves in passing.
“You go ahead and eat; I’ll be busy.” Wu Xiaoxi settled them and went off to work.
Su Wei and Ye Nuanuan ordered their dishes, engaging in casual conversation. Midway through the meal, Ye Nuanuan received a call related to the brokerage company she was preparing to establish. She apologized to Su Wei and left in a hurry.
Finishing her meal alone, Su Wei was about to settle the bill when she heard a man’s scolding and a woman’s pleading from a nearby private room.
“Can’t you serve the dishes properly? Do you want to scald me to death?”
“Sorry, sorry, it wasn’t intentional!”
“Not intentional? I think you did it on purpose!”
“No, it’s because you touched me!”
