Chapter 158 Are You Really Tired of Me
“What’s going on? Why did the power suddenly go out?”
A ripple of confusion spread through the audience, and the dancers on stage froze mid- performance.
The staff members quickly switched to the backup power, and a voice came over the loudspeaker. “We sincerely apologize, but due to an equipment malfunction, we are unable to continue the performance tonight.”
“How can they do this? We came here specifically to see the show!”
“Exactly! Didn’t they check the equipment beforehand?”
The audience erupted in complaints until the staff member’s next announcement instantly
silenced them.
“In light of this, we are offering triple the ticket price as compensation. Additionally, any future performance of this show at the Corvessia Grand Theater will be completely free if you present today’s ticket. We will also upgrade your seating!”
At this announcement, the audience’s frustration melted into delight. Not only were they getting triple their money back, but they could also see the show again for free and with better
seats to boot.
Suddenly, there was nothing left to complain about.
Under the staff members‘ guidance, the patrons began filing out in an orderly fashion.
“Just my luck,” Lena grumbled. “An equipment malfunction! I even lost my chance to get close to those good–looking dancers. I was really hoping to be the lucky audience member tonight.”
“Maybe next time,” Chloe said with a smile.
“Next time it is.” Lena sighed. The two walked toward the theater entrance as they talked. “It’s only a little past 9:00 pm. Brian probably hasn’t arrived yet, right? Why don’t you call him, and I’ll drive you back?”
Chloe was about to agree when she suddenly noticed a familiar Maybach parked not far away. A tall figure stepped out of the car and started walking toward her.
“Why was he so early?” Chloe wondered, surprised.
Then she noticed someone else emerging from the car parked directly behind Brian’s. It was
Thomas.

Was it just a coincidence, or…
The thought made her turn to look at Lena.
Lena was clearly just as astonished. As Brian and Thomas made their way over, the eyes of every other woman leaving the theater were all fixed on the two men.
Their striking appearances were impossible to ignore. One exuded a reserved and cold air, while the other radiated refined elegance.
If Brian’s demeanor hadn’t screamed “do not disturb“, a woman would have probably already approached him for his number.
“Since Brian’s here to pick you up, I’ll be heading off,” Lena said, eager to leave.
Chloe knew that Lena and Thomas shared some history, but all she knew was that Lena had been deeply in love with him, only to abruptly break up with him after a year of dating.
When Chloe asked why, Lena had brushed it off casually. “We just weren’t a good fit anymore, so we broke up. These days, no one talks about falling in love once or dating only one person
for life!”
After the breakup, Lena seemed more carefree than Chloe had expected. She’d focused on her career, launched her own business, and freely admired handsome men and chased celebrities
in her spare time.
It was as if her relationship with Thomas had become nothing more than water under the
bridge.
However, Lena never mentioned Thomas again, and she made a point of avoiding him whenever they were with Ethan.
Sometimes, Chloe wondered if Lena had truly moved on.
But before Lena could slip away, Thomas‘ voice rang out. He was clearly annoyed. “What, you have to leave the moment you see me?”
Lena let out a dry laugh and straightened her back. “Since Mr. Steele is here for Chloe, of
course, I should leave. Should I stick around and be a third wheel?”
Thomas pressed his thin lips together, saying nothing.
Brian glanced at Chloe. “Let’s go.”
“Lena, are you…” Chloe hesitated, looking at her.
“It’s fine. You go ahead. I actually have something I need to discuss with Mr. Earlhart,” Lena replied.

Chloe drew Lena closer and whispered, “Are you sure you’re okay?”
Lena shrugged. “He isn’t some kind of monster who’s going to eat me, is he? Seriously, don’t worry! Besides, I really need to say something to him, and it wouldn’t be convenient if you two were here.”
“Alright, I’ll go.” Only then did Chloe leave with Brian.
Lena turned to Thomas. “If I may presume, you didn’t come here specifically looking for me, did you, Mr. Earlhart?”
Thomas clenched his jaw slightly.
He’d only run into Brian by chance at tonight’s business event.
When Brian had been on the phone with Chloe, Lena’s loud voice had carried across the room,
audible even from where Thomas had stood.
All that talk about handsome guys, muscles, and getting up close had instantly put him in a
foul mood.
Did she really get a kick out of checking out men everywhere she went?
She was just an ex–girlfriend he hadn’t cared about for years. So why had he followed Brian’s car all the way here?
“If I told you I came here specifically to find you, what would you do?” Thomas asked, answering her question with one of his own.
Lena raised an eyebrow. “After all these years, are you still pining for me?”
He narrowed his eyes. Pining for her? Impossible.
When they first started dating, she’d pursued–him persistently, refusing to give up until he finally agreed.
Throughout their relationship, everything she’d done had made it clear how deeply in love she was with him. But he never realized how much he cared until after they broke up.
Lena had ended things without a second thought, showing no signs of lingering attachment.
It was as if she’d simply grown tired of playing with him.
“Lena, do you really think that’s possible?” he asked, his voice cold.
“Then why are you here, looking for me?” she shot back.
He stared at her, his eyes heavy with unspoken thoughts. Even he wasn’t sure why he’d come.
After a long pause, he parted his thin lips. “Did you really get tired of me?”

Lena hesitated for barely a second. Had Thomas come all this way just to ask that?
“Yes,” she said firmly, nodding without a trace of doubt in her voice.
Thomas‘ expression darkened instantly.
“I’ve answered your question, Mr. Earlhart. I hope that you won’t show up in front of me again. People say you can remain friends after a breakup, but I’m worried that seeing you might make my boyfriend jealous. Let’s just not meet again.”
“You have a boyfriend?” Thomas‘ eyes darkened instantly.
“Of course!” Lena smiled. “You didn’t really think that after all these years I’d still be pining for you, mourning the past, and refusing to date anyone, did you?”
Thomas fell silent.
They’d broken up several years ago, so it was entirely possible Lena had a new boyfriend. Yet she was close friends with Ethan, and he’d never mentioned that she was seeing anyone.
“So your boyfriend doesn’t mind that you came here to watch these men perform?” he asked.
