Chapter 147 You’re Not Pregnant, Are You 

Was it because Brian was older now? Or was it some other reason? 

The only thing Chloe could glean from William was that Brian had once accidentally smelled the same perfume three years after Emily’s death. He’d lost control then too. 

They’d thought it was pure coincidence at first, but then they realized that he always reacted the same way whenever he smelled that perfume. 

A psychiatrist had diagnosed it as a psychological issue, but even after half a year’s treatments, Brian hadn’t shown any improvements. 

The Steeles had then acquired the perfume company and destroyed the formula. 

No one had ever expected Willow to have such a perfume in her possession! 

Meanwhile, Chloe seemed to have gained more understanding about Willow’s motive behind spraying that perfume on herself. 

It seemed like Willow hadn’t expected Brian to lose control and choke her to near–death 

instead of seeking her embrace. 

As night fell, Chloe looked at the time. Brian had fallen asleep after being sedated, and more than six hours had passed since. According to the doctor’s instructions, Brian would likely wake up in another two to three hours‘ time. 

Just as Chloe was about to wash up, Brian suddenly moaned in pain in the hospital room. 

“Don’t… Don’t leave me alone, please… I beg you… Don’t leave me behind…” 

Chloe stopped in her tracks and turned around to look at Brian. He hadn’t woken up. His eyes were tightly shut, but unlike earlier, his brows were now knitted together. His head moved slightly, as though he were having a nightmare. 

Chloe went to the bedside and saw that Brian’s face was now covered in a sheen of sweat. She raised a hand to help him wipe it away. 

But just when Chloe was about to touch his forehead, his eyes suddenly flew open to stare right at her. 

Chloe was shocked. 

In an instant, Brian swiftly grabbed her wrists. 

Chloe’s vision swam. The next thing she knew, Brian was pressing her flat onto the hospital

bed. His knees flanked her sides while his hands pinned her wrists down on the mattress.

Chloe’s brows knitted together. She was about to shove Brian off of her when she noticed that his eyes were unfocused even though he was staring right at her. He was panting harshly too. 

In fact, Brian’s hands seemed to be trembling around her wrists. It was almost as if he were terrified. 

But what was he terrified of? 

“Don’t leave me… It’s so dark… I’m so scared… Blood… There’s so much blood…” Brian whimpered helplessly like a child. 

Chloe suddenly recalled her earlier conversation with William. 

Had Brian still not recovered after being triggered by the perfume? He still seemed to be caught in a nightmare and hadn’t fully woken up yet. 

“Let

go of my hands first, Brian. I’ll get the doctor to check up on you,” Chloe said gently. 

‘…No, I don’t want to let you go. You’ll abandon me… You’ll all abandon me…” Brian mumbled. 

His own father and mother had abandoned him. Everyone who said they loved him had 

abandoned him… 

“You useless piece of crap! You have no use being alive at all!” Liam’s voice rang out again and again in Brian’s ears. 

Had he been abandoned again and again since he was young because he really was useless? 

Chloe gazed at Brian, seeing the twisted, broken expression on his handsome face. 

What had Brian experienced when he was young? He clearly seemed like a rich heir who had everything. 

Yet Chloe felt so enraged and sad for him right now. She should’ve punched Liam more when she had the chance. She should’ve used more force! 

“I won’t leave you behind, Brian. Listen to me—I won’t abandon you. I promise!” Chloe said. 

She repeated it to Brian with utmost patience. 

His lashes trembled as if he’d finally heard her words. Then, his dark eyes gradually became 

focused. 

“Chloe…” Brian stared at her, stunned. He slowly regained consciousness and said, “Did I lose control again?” 

“No. You just held my wrists down, nothing more. You didn’t hurt me,” Chloe said.

Brian’s gaze slowly shifted upward. He saw that he was still tightly gripping her wrists, holding them above her head. 

His sense of reason told him that he should release her, yet he didn’t want to do it. He was afraid that he might never be able to grab hold of her if he let her go now. 

“I won’t abandon you, Brian. You’re my boyfriend now, aren’t you?” Chloe’s voice rang in his 

ears. 

Brian stiffened slightly before finally letting go of her hands. 

Now that Chloe’s hands were free, she didn’t immediately shove Brian away. Instead, she hugged him tight. 

“You must’ve been having a nightmare earlier. Don’t worry, I’m here with you. If I ever meet your father in person again, I’ll teach him a lesson he won’t forget!” 

Brian was stunned. 

A moment later, he looked down and smiled. “Yeah, you’re here.” 

It had been pitch black in his nightmare earlier, and the smell of blood had permeated his senses. He’d even watched everyone slowly leave him behind. 

He’d tried holding onto them, yet none of them had so much as turned to look at him before walking away. 

Only when Chloe’s voice had started echoing in his ears had he finally regained his senses. 

“Chloe…” Brian buried his head in her shoulder, exhausted. “Thank you for staying by my side. I have nothing to fear now that you’re here.” 

The only thing Brian feared was Chloe leaving him. 

“So you have to keep your word and not abandon me too!” Brian’s weak voice echoed in the air as if sealing a solemn promise. 

Brian was discharged from the hospital the very next day, as there was nothing else wrong 

with his health. 

As he left the hospital, his first order for William was, “Investigate the source of Willow’s perfume and destroy it for good. Also, make it clear to the Quall family that if they still insist on letting Willow work at Quall Group, Steele Group will terminate all collaborations with them!” 

Naturally, the Qualls wouldn’t risk offending Brian for Willow’s sake and would make her leave the company. That meant she would lose all standing in the Quall family. 

Chapter 147 You’re Not Pregnant, Are You 

“Have you ever spoken to a psychiatrist about your reaction to the perfume?” Chloe asked. 

“Yes. I thought I’d already recovered, but who knew…” Brian said. “I must’ve looked terrible 

when I lost control.” 

“No, you didn’t. But I do hope your past trauma no longer affects you,” Chloe said. “I’ll stay by your side as you get through this.” 

“Okay,” Brian said. 

Chloe would never know just how deeply her words affected him. 

On the third day after he was discharged, Brian and Chloe returned to Corvessia by plane. Ethan flew back with them as well. 

Lena was waiting for them at the arrival hall. She badly wanted to catcall the trio when she saw them. Either one of these two men would have a woman swooning, yet Chloe was currently flanked by both of them! 

But then again, being surrounded by hot men might still be a cause of suffering. How could one ever choose? 

“Why don’t we have dinner first?” Lena suggested. After all, it was 6:00 pm then. 

“Sure,” Chloe said. Neither Brian nor Ethan had any objections either. 

The four of them went to a restaurant together, instantly drawing attention from the 

customers there. A lot of women were drawn to Brian and Ethan in particular. 

They sat down and ordered their food, which was swiftly served. Just as Chloe was about to swallow a piece of fish, she suddenly clapped a hand over her mouth. 

“What’s wrong?” Lena asked, concerned. 

“I’m just nauseous. My old condition might be flaring up again…” Chloe said. 

Lena was absolutely shocked before Chloe could even finish speaking. “Nausea? You’re… You’re not pregnant, are you?” 

That was right–Lena had really asked that question. 

Ethan’s utensils fell to the floor, a look of utter shock on his face. 

Meanwhile, Brian looked at Chloe in surprise as well. 

Chapter 148 Someone Whet over you and someone who DOBBELT
