Chapter 145 What Did You Do to Him
“You’re here, Chloe.” Geoffrey was seated upright in his bed. He seemed much more frail compared to the last time she’d seen him at Quall Group.
“How’s your health, Great–Uncle Geoffrey?” Chloe asked.
“Same old, same old. I’m in my twilight years, after all.” Geoffrey smiled. He then said, “Why don’t you head outside first, Willow? I’d like to speak to Chloe alone.”
Displeasure flashed in Willow’s eyes. She’d been by Geoffrey’s side for so many years, yet he doted on Chloe more!
Was it all because Chloe was from Walter’s branch of the family? Was it because Chloe’s parents were heroes?
It wasn’t fair!
But Willow could only force herself to smile and nod right now. She then slowly walked out of
the bedroom.
The moment Willow left the bedroom, she heard the household staff mention that Brian had come over too and was waiting in the living room.
Willow’s expression changed. Her life had become harder lately. Those ex–friends of hers had changed how they treated her dramatically after they’d heard that she’d lost the Steele family’s support.
They’d placed her on such a high pedestal before, yet now she’d become the mud they trampled underfoot.
Only by making Brian change his mind about her could she continue living a life of luxury!
Willow hurriedly went over to the living room with that thought in mind. Sure enough, she spotted Brian standing right there.
She went up to him and said, “I’ve been wanting to see you once more, Brian. I know I was in the wrong when we met at the restaurant last time. I shouldn’t have said all those things to Chloe. Can you please forgive me?”
Brian noticed the look in Willow’s eyes but continued being cold toward her. “There’s nothing to forgive. Whatever connection we had before is utterly gone now.”
Willow gritted her teeth.
No! How could their connection end just like this?
“Is it all because I tried to escape out of fear when I was young? But I was only a child back

then. I only abandoned you out of… out of pure instinct!” Willow tried to defend herself.
Yet Brian’s cold gaze seemed to tell her that whatever she had to say no longer mattered to
him.
“What about Chloe, huh? Won’t Chloe abandon you when you’re really in danger?” Willow
hissed.
“No, she won’t.” A hint of tenderness surfaced in Brian’s eyes when Chloe was mentioned.
But this only served to fuel Willow’s jealousy further. “Do you trust her that much?”
“I do,” Brian answered. He continued gazing coldly at Willow and said, “You better not turn up in front of me from now on unless absolutely necessary. My family has spent 20 years repaying you for your lost eye–which should be more than enough time to pay dues!”
Those words struck Willow fiercely, making her feel unbearably humiliated and aggrieved.
Enough? How could that be enough?
Willow ground her teeth angrily. If Brian was going to be so cruel to her, then he better not
fault her for pulling some tricks of her own!
Meanwhile, Chloe was handing the photos of Daniel to Geoffrey.
Geoffrey carefully examined each and every photo while Chloe stood at the bedside, telling him some things related to Daniel.
“Once I find Daniel, I’ll bring him over here to pay you a visit,” Chloe said.
Geoffrey gazed at Daniel in the photos. “I’m not sure if I’ll be able to hold on for that long.”
“Of course you will!” Chloe said. “It won’t take long. I’ll track Daniel down as soon as I can. You’ll definitely be able to see him again!”
“Alright!” Geoffrey nodded. “I shall eagerly await his return.‘
Geoffrey then mentioned Brian a moment later. “Are you currently dating Brian?”
“Yes,” Chloe said.
“Men like him are very complicated, so you must be careful,” Geoffrey reminded gently. ” What’s more, Brian is from the Steele family. His father, Liam, did some dastardly things in order to have Emily for himself. He’d even ruined Emily’s previous lover. He-”
“Great -Uncle Geoffrey!” Chloe cut him off. “Liam is Liam, and Brian is Brian. Brian isn’t like his father at all!”
Chloe knew Geoffrey was only saying this out of concern. But she didn’t want anyone to be saying such things about Brian.

“That’s true. It seems like I’m the prejudiced one here,” Geoffrey said. After all, he’d personally witnessed how nicely Brian treated Chloe last time. Chloe seemed to like Brian too. The two’s relationship was naturally different from that of their elders‘.
An hour had passed by the time Chloe exited Geoffrey’s bedroom. She looked at the time, wondering if Brian had grown impatient waiting for her in the living room.
But the moment Chloe headed toward the living room, she noticed several household staff members hurrying over as well.
“Something’s happened in the living room!”
“Mr. Steele and Ms. Willow seem to be in trouble!”
Chloe was shocked.
Willow and Brian?
She quickened her pace and hurried over to the living room. The household staff had already crowded the doorway, so Chloe shoved past them and went into the room.
She was stunned by the sight before her.
Brian had a crazed look upon his face as he panted harshly. His hands were locked tightly
around Willow’s throat.
Willow’s back was against the wall, and her feet dangled in the air as her mouth gaped open. Her face was extremely pale.
Several other household staff were strewn across the living room too, many of them moaning in pain.
Chloe had no time to think about what was happening right now. It was clear that Brian wasn’t in the right state of mind and that Willow might actually die right there if he continued. choking her.
“Brian!” Chloe yelled.
But Brian ignored her entirely. He continued choking Willow instead. Willow’s expression contorted further as she began losing strength while struggling in Brian’s grip.
“Brian!” Chloe ran up to Brian. “You need to let go of Willow first, no matter what!”
But Brian didn’t seem to hear what she’d said at all. His familiar dark eyes seemed unfocused right now.
Chloe was panicking. The only thing she could do was try to pry Brian’s hands away from Willow’s throat herself. Yet the moment she did this and Brian released his hold on Willow, he
turned to Chloe as if to attack her.

“What happened to you, Brian?” Chloe cried while dodging Brian’s grasp.
But he continued lunging at her like a deranged beast.
Chloe’s brows knitted together. She suddenly dodged another one of Brian’s lunges and turned around to shove him up against the wall.
Right when she was about to consider knocking him out, a hint of clarity returned to his
crazed eyes..
“C–Chloe…”
“It’s me! I’m here!” Chloe cried.
Brian’s eyes finally seemed to focus as he gazed at Chloe’s familiar face. “The scent… Y–You need to tie my hands together… So I don’t hurt you…”
Brian panted harshly as if trying to force himself to stay conscious.
Had he been set up?
Chloe suddenly recalled that she’d picked up on an interesting scent on Willow earlier when she’d been trying to make Brian release his grip on her.
Even as he seemed to be in terrible pain, Brian obediently allowed Chloe to bind his hands together.
Chloe held onto Brian once his hands were bound. She glared at Willow, who was coughing uncontrollably on the floor.
“What’s with that scent on your body? What exactly did you do to Brian?” Chloe demanded.
