Chapter 132 Mr. Steele’s Little Thoughts
Just as Chloe was about to answer the phone, Brian caught her hand.
“Don’t pick up,” he said, his voice hoarse against her ear.
“Stop it.” Chloe laughed but still pressed the answer button and held the phone to her ear.
“Clo.” Ethan’s voice came through the other end.
“Yes, what is it?” Chloe asked, feeling Brian’s arms tighten slightly around her waist.
“Are you really dating Brian?” Ethan blurted out.
Chloe immediately understood what was going on. Clips of the talk show interview had already been posted online. In addition to Sonya announcing her engagement with Curtis, they also showed the part where the host had asked Chloe about her relationship with Brian.
At the time, she’d openly admitted that they were seeing each other.
It seemed like Ethan had seen the interview too.
“Yes, it’s true,” Chloe admitted right away.
It was quiet on the other end of the line.
Chloe couldn’t help but call out, “Ethan?”
“Clo, I…” Ethan had just started speaking when Chloe let out a sudden gasp.
Brian had suddenly kissed her earlobe.
His lips were warm, and his breath tickled against her neck. It left Chloe feeling a searing heat on her ear.
Brian murmured in a low, husky voice, “Chloe, how long are you going to stay on the phone? It’s time for
bed.”
“Clo, is Brian right there with you?” Ethan asked through clenched teeth.
“Yes, he’s here. What did you want to say just now?” Chloe asked.
“You and him…” Ethan paused for a moment.
Then, he said, “It’s nothing!”
He hung up right after.
Chloe lowered her gaze to the phone in her hand. What on earth had Ethan wanted to say? Had he just called to confirm whether she and Brian were dating?
“What are you thinking about?” Brian asked. In one swift motion, he took the phone from her hand and tossed it onto the coffee table. Then, like a predator, he caged her between himself and the couch.

Chloe replied, “It’s nothing. I was on the phone with Ethan just now. You suddenly kissed my ear, and he probably overheard what you said. It’s just so awkward.”
“Do you hate it when I do that?” Brian lowered his head, pressing his lips against her earlobe and kissing it again.
A ticklish sensation exploded along Chloe’s ear. Her face flushed as she tried to push him away. But just as she pushed, he let himself fall sideways onto the couch, hooking an arm around her waist.
Suddenly, she was sprawled on top of him.
“Do you hate it?” Brian’s dark gaze was locked onto her.
She could feel how tense his arm was around her waist, almost as if he were nervously waiting for her reply.
“What if I do?” She teased. After all, he’d interrupted her call on purpose. This was just a little payback.
But to her surprise, his eyes instantly dimmed, and his lashes trembled slightly. In an almost self–mocking
manner, he murmured, “If you really hate it, then I won’t do it ever again.”
Chloe froze in place, feeling his dejected expression tugging at her heart, making it ache.
“So, Chloe, don’t hate me, okay?” Brian pleaded softly.
Chloe’s heart ached even more now. She immediately regretted what she said earlier. “No. Whether it’s you or what you did, I don’t hate it. It’s just that I got a little embarrassed.”
As she spoke, she gently cupped his face, not wanting to see that expression on his face. “So, if you really want to do something like that, just don’t do it while I’m on the phone.”
Brian’s eyes lit up. “So you don’t hate it.”
“I don’t,” Chloe said. She pressed her lips to his ear. “It just tickles, so I’m not very used to it.”
Then, she imitated him and softly took his earlobe between her lips, kissing it. She watched as his ear gradually reddened, and even his cheeks started to flush pink.
“Chloe…” Brian’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he breathed a little heavier. His dark eyes shone, looking both
hazy and intoxicating.
At that moment, lying beneath her, Brian looked breathtaking.
Chloe had only wanted him to experience what it felt like, but now, she herself was dangerously
enchanted.
When he rasped out her name in that husky voice and looked at her with those bewitching eyes, it felt like he was temptation itself.
Chloe didn’t know what to say. Didn’t he know how irresistible he was like this?

That night, Chloe didn’t even know how much restraint it took to hold herself back.
It wasn’t because they weren’t married yet. It was just that she wanted to be certain of her feelings before taking that next step. She didn’t want it to just be a moment of lust.
Brian, however, looked a little regretful. When they slept at night, he held her waist and whispered in her ear, “Chloe, I love you. I’ll wait until you truly love me. When that time comes, you’ll want me too, right?”
He was like a big, lovestruck puppy begging for affection.
Chloe had never realized it before, but Brian could also be clingy and even a little spoiled.
The next day, Chloe needed to visit her parents‘ old house in a town nearby, so Brian drove her out there. They arrived around lunchtime.
“Can you eat simple local food?” Chloe asked.
“Why not?” Brian said. In the past, he’d even gone days without food. Even filthy bread had been a
delicacy.
“There’s this small diner I used to go to all the time. I’m not sure if it’s still around, but my family always went there together whenever we came here,” Chloe smiled faintly, though her voice dipped at the end.
She used to go there with her family, but she was all alone now.
Brian said, “Then I’ll go there with you.”
Chloe blinked and smiled. Right, she wasn’t alone this time. He was with her.
They quickly pulled up at the diner.
It was still there and looked almost the same as it had five years ago, though the owner, Casey Briggs, looked a little older.
“Chloe! I haven’t seen you in years. How have you been?” Casey recognized her in an instant.
“I’ve been good.” Chloe smiled.
Casey asked, “Where are your parents and your brother? Didn’t they come with you?”
Chloe’s gaze dimmed slightly. “Not this time. I just came back alone to take care of some things.”
“Is that so? Come on in and have a seat. Take a look at the menu.” With that, Casey ushered them in.
As Chloe and Brian sat down, the latter’s eyes drifted to a wall that was covered with Polaroid snapshots. There were pictures of various guests, smiling and posing around the diner.
“These photos are like a guestbook. They’re part of this diner’s charm. Many customers leave their photos on the wall,” Chloe explained.

“Is there one of you?” Brian asked with interest.
She pointed at one. “Yeah. There, that’s me. And that’s my brother beside me.”
Brian followed her finger. The moment his gaze landed on the man standing next to her, his expression shifted ever so slightly. “That’s your brother?”
