Chapter 5 

After leaving the hospital, I told Charles not to follow me but to go to the hospital instead to report for duty and complete his onboarding procedures. 

Michael struggled on the ground for a long time before managing to get up, completely losing his previous refined demeanor, with bloodstains still on his clothes. Seeing people around still watching him, he angrily shouted, “What are you looking at? Get lost!” 

Then he pointed at a nearby security guard and said, “You’re security! How can you just stand there and watch me get beaten? When someone causes trouble in the hospital, don’t you intervene? I’m going to file a complaint against you! I’ll have Gabriel fire you!” 

What Michael didn’t know was that because of my mobility issues, for my safety, the security personnel at every company I invested in were specially arranged by me. These guards were all professionally trained, recognized me, and were required to keep my identity confidential. 

Michael angrily ran to Gabriel’s office to complain, but Gabriel said, “I don’t have the authority to fire security guards.” 

Hearing this, Michael was confused: “I’m a core physician at this hospital. I demand the dismissal of a security guard, and you’re

telling me you can’t do it?”

Gabriel smiled and said to him, “Dr. Green, you verbally abused a patient in the hospital, creating a very negative impact. If someone recorded you abusing a patient and posted the video online, it would severely damage the hospital’s reputation. So, you should look for work elsewhere. I won’t be keeping you.” 

Michael was completely stunned. His face was badly swollen from the beating, and his expression now looked even worse. Michael had intended to get the security guard fired, but ended up getting dismissed himself. 

At this moment, Michael felt his face hurt even more, but he still tried to maintain his composure: “Gabriel, you need to think this through. I’m the most skilled doctor in this hospital. Losing me would be a huge loss for the hospital.” 

Gabriel maintained his gentle smile: “Dr. Green, everyone knows about your medical skills. I’m sure you’ll have better opportunities after leaving here.” 

His words made Michael feel slightly better. Thinking about his private hospital opening soon, he suddenly wasn’t angry anymore. Even when he left the hospital carrying his personal belongings, he maintained an air of superiority. 

As he walked, he called Sarah: “Sarah, I broke up with Athena. From now on, you’re my girlfriend. I’m sorry for making you

Sarah had just received a call from the HR department of that big company, saying they were canceling her job offer. She had clearly received the job notification three days ago and had even bragged about it on Instagram. Her classmates were all envious, which greatly satisfied her vanity. 

But now the company was saying they didn’t want her, claiming “HR made a mistake.” At the time, seeing the caller ID and wanting to show off in front of her classmate, Sarah had deliberately put the call on speaker. So all the surrounding classmates heard that her “big company job was a misunderstanding” and immediately started gossiping. Those who had been flattering her instantly began mocking her. 

Sarah ran out of the classroom in tears. She was just thinking about calling Michael to cry to him when he called her. 

After hearing Michael’s words, her tears immediately stopped, and she asked somewhat anxiously, “Didn’t you say you’d wait until your private hospital opened before breaking up with Athena? Your private hospital doesn’t open for another two days. Nothing’s going wrong, is it?” 

Michael said dismissively, “The last two days are just cleaning and setting up opening decorations. What could go wrong? I originally thought that considering we spent two Christmases together, I’d pity her as a disabled person with no one to care for

Hearing Michael say this, Sarah felt relieved: “As long as nothing goes wrong with the hospital.” 

Then she tearfully told Michael about being dismissed by the company before even starting work. 

Michael comforted her: “Those classmates who mocked you regret it soon. Because you’re about to become the director’s wife. Even if they’re lucky, after graduation they’ll just be employees. You’re not on the same level as them, so you don’t need to care what they say.”

While talking to Sarah on the phone and walking out of the hospital, Michael ran into Charles, who was returning to the hospital.
