Chapter 5

I stared at the three of them in shock.

Dylan and Samuel’s mangled faces were somehow still beaming with happiness.

They both introduced her: “This is Lily-the one you talked to on the phone.”

‘Lily not only came to see us, but she said she feels bad for us and wants to take care of us.”

Then, like they were backing her up, they announced in front of both sets of parents:

‘Mom, Dad, Lily is everything to me. She’s the love of my life. I want you to treat her like your own

laughter.”

Both sets of parents weren’t smiling.

Makes sense.

Anyone could see how both boys felt about Lily, but who could accept a three-way relationship?

Plus, everyone knew their burns happened because they went to meet Lily.

frowned at Lily, who was putting on the fakest smile I’d ever seen.

n my past life, I only learned after I died that she’d set that fire. But she’d pinned it all on me.

This time around, half a month ago, she was ice-cold to them on the phone.

Could one fire really give someone a sudden attack of conscience?

I didn’t buy it.

Dylan looked at our parents. “Mom, we already worked it out. Lily will stay at Samuel’s house Monday, Wednesday, Friday, at our place Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sundays we’ll all be together. Can you set up a room for Lily?”

I watched our parents’ temples literally twitch. They were pretty open-minded, but not that much.

As expected, they both said no without hesitation.

“Dylan, you’re not even together. Having a girl move in would hurt her reputation.”

Dylan wouldn’t listen. He actually threw a tantrum right there.

“I’m already messed up like this and you still won’t do this one thing for me? Am I really your son?”

Our parents hesitated. I laughed.

Actually, NO, he wasn’t.

fI hadn’t begged for a little brother when I was a kid, Dylan would probably still be in foster care now.

He was this sickly kid nobody else wanted when we adopted him. Mom and Dad spent a month getting him. nedical treatment, then six more months with a private doctor to get him healthy.

But all that love and sacrifice just turned him into an ungrateful, selfish brat.

Our parents didn’t want to hurt him, so they kept nodding and saying yes, of course he was their real son.

remembered what he’d said at my deathbed in my past life:

If my sister hadn’t hated Lily so much-forcing us to stay apart after she saved us-I could’ve married Lily nd taken care of her myself.”

All these years, I’ve wished every single day that my sister had burned to death in that fire.”

With that in mind, I stopped our parents from arguing.

Didn’t we keep that extra place in the complex? Since we can’t agree, why doesn’t Dylan move out? Then he nd Samuel can work out whatever schedule they want.”

Dylan’s eyes lit up, but our parents frowned at me.

gave them a look, and they finally backed down.

Dylan was completely selfish-in my past life, he always blamed everyone else for everything.

To keep him from holding a grudge against our parents, might as well give him total freedom.

also wanted to see what their precious Lily would pull.

And really-could a three-way relationship actually work out?
