Chapter 4

Both guys froze, then started talking over each other.

“Lily, are you okay? Why haven’t you been answering our messages? Are you sick?”

‘Remember we were supposed to meet at the warehouse? You didn’t show up, right?”

After she confirmed she hadn’t gone, their first reaction wasn’t to blame her for standing them up-they

both just sighed with relief.

‘Thank God.”

‘Lily… that warehouse caught fire. Dylan and I got trapped inside…”

This time, Lily just said “Oh” in this totally flat voice.

Both guys held their breath, waiting. After almost a full minute of silence, Lily said:

‘Anything else?”

I couldn’t help but smirk.

thought getting severely burned was their biggest punishment.

Turns out their karma was just getting started.

Dylan pressed his lips together, looking hurt. “Samuel and I are both hospitalized with burns. Could you

naybe come visit us?”

Lily was quiet for a while, then finally said: “If I have time.”

She hung up.

Dylan and Samuel went completely silent. And I got tired of looking at their pathetic faces.

So I took the food back and fed it to the stray dogs.

Meanwhile, my dance competition results came in.

I couldn’t believe it-I’d won first place in the Eastern Regional Championship. The judges even told me to prepare for nationals.

I was crying happy tears when I got the news.

Chapter 4

Dance was my life’s passion, but in my past life, the burns had permanently kept me off the stage.

Right after I got burned, I fell into this deep depression. With that scarred face, I started growing thick bangs to hide behind. My posture got all hunched over from shame.

It took forever for Mom and Dad to help me feel confident enough to face people again.

I’d buy tickets to watch other people’s performances, desperate for the stage I could never have.

But the little confidence I’d built up got completely shattered by something Dylan said.

“Eliana, seriously, just quit the dance crap already. Maybe try modeling for horror movies or something.”

‘As for dancing… If your face was on any poster, ticket sales would tank. Nobody wants to see a freak show

when they’re trying to enjoy art.”

Mom and Dad went off on Dylan for that, but my broken dreams couldn’t be put back together.

Thank God I got a second chance. This time, I’m getting back on that stage!

The moment Mom and Dad heard about my win, they smiled for the first time in weeks.

They supported me completely, wouldn’t even let me go to the hospital anymore.

Then half a month later, they told me Dylan and Samuel were getting discharged.

But the next day, I saw Lily Ashford at our front door with both of them.
