Chapter 2
Both sets of parents were losing their minds, and my mom’s eyes were swollen from crying.
“What the hell were they even doing at that random warehouse?”
“God, Dylan’s always been so obsessed with how he looks. I already asked the doctor-they’re gonna scar for sure. And there’s no good skin left anywhere for grafts.”
Samuel’s parents looked pissed:
‘I went through Samuel’s phone. Some girl named Lily told them to meet her there.”
‘It’s been days and she hasn’t even bothered to show up.”
kept my mouth shut.
This had nothing to do with me, but in my past life, those two pinned everything on me because of one lie
rom Lily.
was heading out when their doctor came over.
We can take the bandages off today.”
stopped and followed them back into the room.
Last time around, Samuel thought my scars were so disgusting. This time, I wanted to watch their faces.
Both guys had burned faces.
The parents thought they were ready, but when they saw the yellow pus, the burst blisters showing raw red lesh-everyone sucked in a breath.
Mom teared up and turned away.
Dad tried to keep it together. “You’ll be fine, guys. This’ll heal up.”
But they weren’t stupid. They could see each other’s face.
Samuel lost it first. “What do I look like? I need to see…”
Dylan was right behind him, shoving away the doctors.
“I can’t look like this! No way!”
Chapter 2
Samuel started hitting his legs hard, not even caring about the wounds. “This isn’t fair… Mom, Dad, pinch me! I must not be hitting hard enough-that’s why I can’t feel anything. This is just a nightmare, right?”
Nobody could calm them down. They’d get screamed at by those messed-up faces whenever doctors got
close.
My head was pounding.
grabbed rubbing alcohol from a nurse and dumped it all over Dylan and Samuel’s chest wounds.
The second the alcohol hit those burns, both of them went bright red, the pain choking off any sound.
stared down at Samuel. “Feel something now?”
Don’t wanna cooperate with the doctors? Fine. I can drag myself to the hospital every day to disinfect the
wo of you.”
Even the doctors looked horrified, but Dylan and Samuel finally shut up.
When the pain died down, Samuel looked at me with bloodshot eyes.
My legs… will I ever walk again?”
‘hinking about my past life, I beat the doctor to it.
Severe burns make your muscles shrink up. Even if you stand up again, you won’t ever be back to your old
elf.”
And if you get infected? They might have to cut them off.”
Samuel couldn’t handle it. He swayed and almost toppled out of bed.
kept my face blank, not even thinking about stepping in to help.
Mom pulled on my sleeve. “Eliana, don’t you think you’re being kind of harsh?”
Harsh?
Compared to them letting me die in my last life… this was nothing.
Besides, isn’t this what they wanted? They said they’d rather get burned than have me ruined their lives.
Well, their lives are finally back on track. Time to enjoy it.
