Chapter 11

Chapter 11

I walked ahead while he struggled to push his wheelchair behind me.

After a while, he suddenly called out.

“Eliana.”

I turned around, looking completely indifferent.

“Make it quick.”

His eyes were already watering before he even spoke.

“Eliana, I can’t get married tomorrow.”

I saw this coming. Once Lily got her money, she was always gonna run-it was just a matter of when.

I just didn’t expect Samuel to catch on, even in his condition.

He choked out: “Tomorrow’s supposed to be my huge wedding, but I’m not even the real groom.”

“Lily’s been playing me this whole time. She’s screwing around with some other rich guy.”

I kept my face neutral. “How’d you find out?”

“I went through her phone. That’s when I discovered she’s the one who set that warehouse fire months ago.”

“She fell for some guy who’s way richer than my family. He thought Dylan and I were annoying, so he bet Lily she couldn’t completely ruin us.”

His voice was trembling by the end.

“Dylan and I… we were just her stepping stones to marry rich.”

I already knew all this, but hearing Samuel say it still hit different.

Thinking about my past life, part of me wanted to say he had it coming,

But then again-if I hadn’t died so miserably before, I never would’ve gotten this second chance to live my dreams.

The past was the past. I was at peace now, just wanted to stay out of their mess and focus on my own life.

Chapter 11

So I just said: “Lily’s your only option. Figure out how to make her stay.”

It’s late. We should go back.”

started heading home, but Samuel’s next words made me freeze.

Eliana, you were there during the fire, weren’t you? Why didn’t you help us?”

What the hell???!

whipped around, but couldn’t tell if Samuel had been reborn like me or if Lily’s betrayal had finally woken

im up.

rying not to show my disgust, I heard him keep going: “I can’t do this anymore. Eliana, I don’t want to

narry Lily.”

I’ll step aside so Dylan can have her. Just… could you give me another shot? Maybe we could-”

The rest was too nauseating to hear.

cut him off: “Stop.”

looked down at Samuel in that wheelchair, throwing his old arrogance right back at him.

Samuel, look at yourself. How pathetic do you have to be to say something like that?”

furt flashed across Samuel’s face, but I just walked away.

Samuel wasn’t even in my league anymore.
