A Mistake 12

Chapter 12

Chapter 12

I spent the whole night excited to see how tomorrow’s “wedding of the century” would turn to a shitshow, finally falling asleep at dawn.

But I wasn’t woken up by fireworks and celebration-it was police sirens and screaming from the Ellington

house.

A cop was shouting through a megaphone: “Samuel Ellington! Witnesses saw you commit murder in your home. Come out with your hands up!”

Samuel’s mom collapsed on the front steps, sobbing hysterically, while his dad stood there in shock.

All the neighbors had gathered around their house.

Someone said, voice shaking with terror: “I got up around 3 AM to pee and looked out my window. He was hacking that woman to pieces-blood everywhere, her head practically severed from her body…”

‘And that burned, twisted face of his… when he looked up at my window, I thought I was gonna have a heart

attack.”

Right after they said that, the Ellington’s front door opened.

Samuel rolled out in his wheelchair, and everyone gasped in horror.

But he just confessed like it was nothing.

‘She had it coming. She betrayed me.”

Before the cops could react, Dylan came charging through the crowd and knocked Samuel clean out of his

wheelchair.

‘You sick freak! You killed my Lily! How could you butcher her like that!”

My parents were horrified, and the cops quickly restrained Dylan.

They hauled Samuel off to jail. He was definitely going away for life.

His mom kept collapsing from grief while his dad finally snapped: “Stop! Just stop crying!”

“Our son was nothing but a curse on this family. We wasted our whole lives on him and this is what we get!”

“Let him rot in prison. Good riddance…”

Chapter 12

My parents were rattled for days, constantly talking about it.

“Samuel used to be such a good kid. How did it come to this?”

A few days later, Dylan showed up at our door for the first time in forever.

He’d found out what Lily had really been doing, and seemed to realize he’d screwed up.

“Mom, Dad, I know I was a complete asshole. I was wrong. I’m sorry.”

He looked like he wanted to come home, but my parents shut him down immediately.

“Don’t call us Mom and Dad. We told you already-you’re not our blood.”

Dylan looked shocked. “That’s impossible. Come on, you were just trying to teach me a lesson, right?”

My parents shook their heads and had security throw him out.

As they dragged him away, Dylan kept yelling: “Mom, Dad, even if you hate me, I need money! I gave everything to that psycho bitch!”

“Eliana, please help me!”

Nobody answered.

After Samuel murdered Lily, our world went back to normal.

Samuel’s parents were destroyed for a while, then left town to travel and heal.

I focused on my dance career again, and my parents got back to their regular lives.

But a month later, I got a call from the hospital.

‘Is this Dylan Pierce’s sister? His old burn injuries got badly infected and he’s in critical condition. We need

someone to authorize surgery immediately.”

I said calmly: “No thanks. We’re refusing treatment.”

I hung up and walked onto the stage.

The moment those spotlights hit me, my life felt perfect.
