Chapter47
Her mouth hung open, unable to utter a single word. Her wrinkled face turned pale and then green, a truly spectacular sight.
Then she shouted loudly.
“Fine, you little wretch, you tricked me into signing the severance letter and now you won’t pay up? I’m telling you, that’s impossible, you’ll always be part of the Schroeder family!!”
With a ferocious look on her face, she lunged at Sandria, trying to tear at her.
The guests at the banquet were all shrewd people; seeing this scene, how could they not understand what was going on?
Florentino understood as well. He had long known about her troubled family, but for things to escalate like this was a real embarrassment for him.
Immediately, he stepped in front of Sandria with a cold face.
Facing Lola.
“Enough, isn’t it money you want? However much you want, I’ll give it to you! Take the money and get out!!”
When Lola heard this, she realized someone else was willing to pay for her. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and she no longer cared about dealing with that little wretch Sandria.
Her eyes were filled with greed.
“A million, I just want a million.”
A look of disgust flashed in Florentino’s eyes as he took out his checkbook and wrote down a number.
Courtney, standing to the side, had a dark look in her eyes. She pressed her lips together and spoke.
“Tino, this is really Ms. Farley’s family matter. Is it really appropriate for us to get involved?”
Florentino paused in his writing, then seemed to remember something and said in a low voice.
“Courty, this money is just an advance for Sandria, basically a deposit for the patent.”
With that, he quickly finished writing and handed the check over,
Lola immediately reached out to take it.
But at that moment, Sandria suddenly started laughing.
She laughed so hard her shoulders shook.

Florentino felt uneasy at her laughter, frowning slightly.
“Sandria, I’m helping you deal with this problem, what are you laughing at!”
“I’m laughing at you, Mr. Burnham. You really are a master of talking to yourself.”
Sandria stopped laughing and spoke slowly.

“When did I ever say I was going to sell you the patent? And has the Burnham Group’s cash flow problem been re- solved? You went to such lengths tonight to curry favor with the Schroeder family just to seek investment, didn’t you? So, what, now you suddenly have spare cash to play the savior here?”
She shrugged, her beautiful lips curving slightly.
“What a pity. No one is going to invest a single cent in the Burnham Group tonight, so I suggest you keep that million safe. Otherwise, when you run out of money, no one will lend you any.”
Florentino’s expression changed.
He had just been helping her out of trouble, so why was she acting like this?
Courtney immediately stepped forward, shielding Florentino.
“Sandy, I know you and Ashlan are getting along well these days, but Ashlan and Carol are a perfect match. It’s wrong for you to come between them, and besides, Ashlan would never ignore Tino for you.”
Every word Courtney spoke was a veiled accusation, implying that Sandria was a homewrecker, a destroyer.
“Putting on such a show–aren’t you tired?”
Sandria took a step forward, her red lips curved in a smile, but her words were utterly cold.
“You keep talking about the photo–where did it come from? Did you take it yourself, or did you have someone else do
it?”
“Ms. Mosley, you went to so much trouble, taking photos and spreading rumors in public–what exactly are you after? Do you really think everyone here is a fool, that we can be played by you? Isn’t that right, Ms. Ritter?”
With a barrage of questions, Sandria deftly kicked the ball back.
Courtney’s face instantly turned pale.
“Carol, I… I didn’t! That’s not what I meant, I just…”
