Chapter41
“Sandy, this is your last chance. I’ve already sent you the invitation. The patent you signed over to the Burnham Group has expired. Come to the company to renew the contract. Also, I’ve prepared a gift for you–your favorite.”
Sandria almost burst out laughing.
This was so typical of Florentino–give a slap, then offer a sweet date.
But his intentions were all too obvious. It was all about the patent, after all.
Unfortunately, that trick no longer worked on her at all.
“So you wanted to talk to me about something this big!”
Sandria seemed to ponder for a moment, then changed her tone with a hint of regret: “But I think, as for the patent, let’s forget it. Didn’t you want me to attend the banquet and meet some industry big shots? Maybe someone with more vision and appreciation will want my patent!”
“What do you mean by that?”
Florentino’s tone turned cold.
He could tolerate her little tantrums, but he would never allow her to cross the line like this.
She actually wanted to give the patent to someone else.
That was one of the most profitable projects in his company. Without it, the company’s cash flow problems would only get worse.
“Sandria, do you really think that patent you lucked into years ago is still worth much? I’m only agreeing to renew it because of our years together. Do you really think those industry big shots would be interested in something like that?”
He was trying to use sarcasm to make her face reality.
To be honest, if it weren’t for the patent, he would have left her hanging for a few more days to see how long she
could last.
But Sandria was already well aware of his tricks.
“At least it’s better than you freeloading. If I sell it to someone else, I can actually make some money!”
Money?
Florentino let out a soft laugh.

“So in the end, all you want is money?”

Florentino finally softened his tone. “Just say it–how much do you want? Name your price. You can use the extra to buy yourself a gift.”
Still the same old routine.
Sandria casually picked up two rose petals and played with them in her hand, her tone nonchalant.
“Mr. Burnham, how generous of you. Well then, let’s start with ten billion. Maybe then I’ll consider it.”
Florentino: “…”
After a moment of silence, he finally spoke, his tone tinged with anger.
“Sandria! Don’t go too far!”
Sandria chuckled, “If you don’t have money, don’t pretend in front of me. Loser. What others offer is way more than you ever could.”
With that, she didn’t give him a chance to curse her out, hung up directly, and blocked his number in one go.
Tonight, she was going to rest up well to prepare for tomorrow’s banquet.
She was sure it would be a lively event.
The day of the banquet arrived as scheduled.
Sandria stepped into the banquet hall in slender high heels, her dark, gilded evening gown adorned with fragments of gold, cascading like a river of stars. The deep V neckline set off her snow–white skin, and a gemstone necklace shim- mered around her neck as she moved, the light playing across it. Paired with her stunningly beautiful face, she looked like an enchanting, otherworldly sprite.
When she arrived, the entire banquet hall was still rather empty.
Ashlan stood at the entrance.
Today, he wore a pure black suit, with a silver–gray lapel pin that gleamed coldly.
His features were sharp and imposing, but when he turned to look at Sandria, his gaze instantly softened, filled with affection and indulgence.
“My Sandy is even more beautiful than ever today. You’re sure to stun everyone at the party.”
Sandria accepted Ashlan’s compliment without the slightest reservation.
She stepped forward, clinging to his arm and acting coy. “Ash, I want to ask you for a favor. Could you not reveal my identity for now? Just for a while, okay?”
