There were many things he couldn’t tell Claudine.

But he couldn’t let her keep acting like this, either.

After all, Darlene needed care, and he needed a stable family.

I won’t divorce you. She won’t affect you in any way.”

Damian tapped his finger, and ash from his cigarette fell onto the pristine dining table.

Pack your things. Come home with me tonight.”

When he said this, his tone was as arrogant as ever.

That sentence, I won’t divorce you, sounded like a form of charity.

To speak so lightly of infidelityClaudine looked at the man before her and suddenly felt that all those years of lov- ing him had truly been a waste!

She struggled to suppress the urge to throw her coffee in his face.

Seeing Claudine remain silent, Damian assumed she had agreed.

Let’s go!”

He stood up.

I’ll have someone pack your things for you. Darla has been waiting for you all night, and you really haven’t spent time with her in a long while.”

Damian looked around the house.

The room was decorated very nicely, with a lot of style.

He had always known that Claudine was a woman of great taste.

Otherwise, with her jealous nature, he wouldn’t have tolerated her for so many years.

His gaze fell on the display cabinet in the living room, where there seemed to be many things like trophies and certifi-

cates.

He was a bit curious and wanted to go over and take a look.

Just then, a phone rang.

It was Damian’s phone.

The phone was on the dining table. When Claudine looked up, she saw the caller ID on the screen.

Sweetheart”

Ha!

How sweet indeed!

Damian didn’t seem to care that Claudine saw the contact name. He walked over and answered the call directly.

Dami, Darla has a lot of rashes all over her body. I don’t know what’s going on. Come home and take a look.”

In the quiet room, the voice from the receiver was especially clear.

Claudine heard everything clearly.

Damian had already let that woman move into Belmont Villas!

So why did he want her to go back!

Just to humiliate her?

Hearing that his daughter was unwell, Damian immediately became anxious. He grabbed his coat and was about to leave. Seeing Claudine still sitting in her chair, he frowned, his voice turning cold.

Aren’t you coming home?”

Claudine had no intention of getting up.

She didn’t even turn around to look at the man behind her.

She no longer wanted to say another word to this man.

Damian’s expression turned completely cold.

He had always believed that, although Claudine could be difficult at times, she had always been attentive when it came to Darlene.

But now, even knowing that Darlene was sick, she still only cared about her own jealousy. It was trulydisgraceful!

Tonight Darla thought you would come home. She waited for you downstairs for so long, and in the end, she fell asleep on the sofa!

Even in her sleep, she kept asking me when you would be back!

Now she’s not feeling well, and yet you’re ignoring her over some trivial matter!

Claudine, I was really wrong about you!”

After saying this, Damian slammed the door and left.

Claudine was left alone.

She stood up and threw the things on the table into the trash can.

She thought she was calm enough, but the words Damian said before leaving kept her heart from settling down.

He said Darlene had waited for her all night.

He said that even when Darlene was asleep, she was still waiting for her…

Images appeared in Claudine’s mind: little Darlene lying on that big sofa, waiting for her with hope.

She shook her head, forcing herself not to think about it anymore.

But whenever she closed her eyes, all she could see was Darlene covered in rashes, crying and asking to be held.

She was about to divorce Damian, and after the divorce, the Barrette family probably wouldn’t let her see Darlene again.

Claudine felt as if a stone was blocking her heart.

Darlene had always been frail since she was little, and Claudine had always taken care of her personally. Even the maids at home didn’t know Darlene’s condition as well as she did.

After thinking for a moment, Claudine finally got up and opened her laptop.

She wrote down Darlene’s preferences and allergens in a document, including how to care for her after an allergic re- action.

Of course, she remembered the things Darlene had done that had disappointed and hurt her, but when it came to that child, she simply couldn’t harden her heart.

After carefully listing all the precautions, Claudine checked everything again to make sure nothing was missing, then sent the file to the maid who had always looked after Darlene.
