As she was lost in thought, Fulbert glanced at their photo. 

Then he said, “What a shameless pair. They ought to pay for what they did. Well? Do you wanna join hands with me now?” 

She was surprised at his persistence, offering to work with her at a time like this. For some reason, she was suddenly seized by an odd emotion. 

She pursed her lips and looked up, a faint glint flashing in her charming eyes. 

“Sure. Mr. Ortega, let’s join hands.” 

She no longer cared what he was up to. Nothing beat her revenge. 

Fulbert arched an eyebrow, a trace of a smile flashing across his eyes, though she didn’t notice it. 

He said, “Great. I look forward to our cooperation. You can name any terms you want…” 

He approached her slowly until his warm breath brushed her ear. 

A bit uneasy, she took a few steps back and looked at him, emphasizing, “Mr. Ortega, just to be clear–physical trans- actions aren’t part of our deal.” 

He seemed innocent. “I just wanted to say you’ll have to cooperate with me, too. Physical transactions? Where does that come from?” 

She parted her lips but didn’t know what to say. 

All of a sudden, she regretted working with him. Was it too late to back out now?

In the VIP lounge, Florentino was about to board the plane together with Courtney when his phone dinged. He glanced at the screen, and then his body stiffened slightly. 

It was a report on the Daybreak Bridge accident, and the close–up in the photo was actually Sandria. 

She seemed a bit haggard while clutching her elbow, 

Was she hurt? 

He pursed his lips, frowning. 

Thinking that he had kicked her out of the car out of impulse, he felt a bit guilty.

Seeing her getting out of the cab alone, he was convinced that she had been lying to him about being with Fulbert. 

At this, he smiled triumphantly. 

Courtney, who was aside, didn’t sense anything wrong. 

She said, her voice delicate, “Tino, thanks for coming home with me. Dad and Mom were so excited about hosting you that they had a lot of premium ingredients airfreighted. You’ll love them.” 

After a few seconds, he still said nothing. 

Puzzled, she looked up. “Tino?” 

He pulled his hand away from hers. 

“Sorry, Courty. Something came up at work, and I need to go back. I’m afraid I can’t go back with you.” 

She instinctively grabbed his sleeve. “What’s so urgent? Can I help?” 

He shook his head and coaxed her gently, “Don’t worry about it. 

“Be good, alright? I’ll send someone over to be with you. Or I’ll be so worried.” 

Before she could say anything, he brushed her hand away and hurried out. 

Though she was a bit annoyed about being left behind, she didn’t say anything. 

Just as she took out her phone, ready to call home, a notification popped out. 

She gripped her phone when she saw Sandria’s face on the screen. 

Her eyes dimmed. 

So, Sandria was the reason why Florentino left in such a hurry? 

Sandria was about to go back home in Fulbert’s car. 

But as they approached the hospital entrance, a figure showed up in front of them. 

It was Florentino. 

“Sandy, where were you hurt?” 

He strode toward her, wanting to grab her wrist to check her injury, 

Surprised to see him here, Sandria frowned slightly and stepped back to avoid his touch, 

“Mr. Burnham, what’s this about?” she said. 

Only then did Florentino notice the man standing next to her.
