To celebrate Courtney joining the company, there would be a dinner party at Moonlight Trattoria tonight. Formal dress code was required as a sign of respect. 

Someone sitting across from Sandria looked at her with a meaningful smile. 

“Sandy, if you don’t wanna go, we can talk to Mr. Burnham for you. I’m sure he has no objections.” 

Another sneered, “Why would she go? To embarrass herself? She saw how graceful and noble Ms. Mosley was. Not to mention their family backgrounds–compared to Ms. Mosley, she’s such a joke. 

“Mr. Burnham surely has no interest in her now.” 

Sandria pulled out her compact and reapplied her lipstick a few times, the rosy color making her seem even more al- luring. 

“Of course, I’ll go. Why wouldn’t I? I don’t care whether he’s interested in me or not. How does that have anything to do with me?” 

Hearing this, everyone else curled their lip. 

They simply thought she was acting brave. 

After all, they had all witnessed her being Florentino’s loyal simp over the years. 

Now that he had announced his engagement, if she dared to make any trouble, she’d be kicked out for sure. 

She was just a country bumpkin without any connections. Jobless and dumped by her patron–lover–no doubt she was going to end up miserably. 

At 8:00 p.m., the banquet formally started. 

Though everyone was required to show up in formal attire, no one dared to steal Courtney’s thunder. Dressed in con- servative outfits, they surrounded her, cozying up to her. 

Sandria’s colleagues in the Publicity Department gathered, staring at the entrance. 

“We were right. Sandria indeed doesn’t dare to show up.” 

“I bet she’ll soon be fired. Ms. Mosley will know everything she’s done. She won’t be tolerated here at all.” 

As they were chatting, a commotion erupted at the entrance, 

Dressed in a custom crimson gown with a high slit, Sandria made a stunning entrance. The luxurious diamond set made her dazzling under the bright lights, accentuating her striking beauty.

The stark contrast between her flawless skin and the bright red fabric was breathtaking. 

She reminded one of a winter rose at peak bloom, fearless against storms. 

Her long, straight hair swayed with her every step, dancing through the air. 

Amazed, several men even collided into each other, wine spilling onto their shirts.

Courtney, who was in the middle of the crowd, also wore haute couture, which was paired with an expensive emerald necklace. 

But her petite frame fell short of the gown’s intended elegance and nobility. Compared to Sandria, a rose in full bloom, she seemed like a stunted, undernourished sapling. 

Being outshone completely, she pulled a long face, standing in place awkwardly. 

Sandria walked toward them gracefully, the marble floor mirroring her heels in flashes of light. 

She fixed her gaze on Florentino, her eyes charming and alluring. 

His heartbeat raced uncontrollably. 

There was both amazement and displeasure in his eyes. 

The others‘ comments on her stirred the possessiveness in his heart, and he almost had the urge to cover their eyes, shouting for them to look away. 

Just as he was about to reprimand her and ask her to leave, she suddenly turned around and walked toward Fulbert, who wasn’t far away. 

She slipped her arm through his and shook it while pouting. “We agreed to show up together. Why didn’t you want for me? You jerk.” 

The entire venue erupted. 

What followed was dead silence. 

Looking at Fulbert’s cold, handsome face, Sandria was a bit uneasy. 

She had been so drunk that night, her memories all a blur. 

Now that she approached him again, the refined notes of his designer fragrance only amplified his icy restraint, and she almost wanted to pull back. 

Just then, he nodded. 

“Sorry. It won’t happen again.” 

Hearing this, everyone was slack–jawed. 

Those closer to him were utterly dumbfounded.
