Chapter 5
“The truth about Jack Garcia’s car plunging into the water is also in these documents.”
From the corner of my eye, a figure scrambled backward and fled.
Terry Garcia paled, then slapped Jack hard across the face:
“Kneel!”
“When did you commit such an atrocity? Why wasn’t I informed!”
“Had I known, I’d never have begged Emily Lopez to marry you!”
Jack thudded to his knees, confusion written across his face.
After scanning the documents, Terry pounded his cane against the floor with thudding strikes.
“Disgrace to the family! Utter disgrace!”
Under Terry’s glare, Jack was forced to sign the divorce papers.
Aaron Walker tossed down documents severing overseas ties with Garcia Group and led me away.
The grand centennial celebration ended abruptly as Terry dealt with family affairs.
Years ago, Jack’s accident was orchestrated by Joseph Garcia, his father’s illegitimate son.
After bringing Joseph into the household, Jack’s father often vanished for months pursuing pleasure.
Joseph played the harmless, ambitionless fool while secretly plotting to eliminate Jack, the legitimate heir, and take his place.
At Terry’s command, guards swiftly dragged back Joseph who’d tried sneaking out earlier.
I expected Jack to attack Joseph for nearly killing him years prior.
Instead, he ignored Joseph and Deborah Clark’s pleas, chasing after Aaron and me.
He stammered, eyes pleading:
“Emily, you married me for love, not because of Grandpa’s deal… right?”
I frowned.
“You chased us out for this nonsense?”
“Answer me! This matters!”

Chapter 5
250 YUUSHES
Memories of my parents’ tragic death and years of suffering twisted into hatred.
“Don’t flatter yourself, Jack. I married to save my family’s ancestral chapel. I never loved you.”
My venomous glare shattered him.
He staggered back two steps, body swaying, eyes crumbling.
Cradling his head, he muttered:
“No… you loved me… you did…”
“Your parents’ deaths were accidental… I never meant…”
Trembling with rage, I locked eyes with him.
Aaron’s arm tightened around my waist, his tone jealous.
“Feeling sorry for him? Don’t tell me you’ll forgive him.”
I glanced up, smiling.
“Never.”
“I was blind before. See? You cured my blindness.”
We turned to leave. After two steps, Jack lunged and grabbed my arm.
Eyes bloodshot, he roared:
“Emily Lopez! You’re my wife! You can’t leave with him!”
He shot Aaron a murderous glare:
“Steal my wife? I’ll kill you!”
His fist swung toward Aaron’s face.
But before he could get close, Aaron kicked him flying, sending him crashing to the ground.
“Did that hurt?”
A flicker of hope flashed in Jack’s eyes, but when he looked up and saw me checking Aaron for injuries, that light in- stantly died.
Aaron rolled his wrists and neck, pulling me back into his embrace as he walked, teasing:
“I knew Jack was childish, but I never expected him to be such a clingy nuisance. I never should’ve let you go to him. in the first place.”
By the time Jack scrambled up to chase after us, Aaron’s bodyguards had already pinned him down.
He desperately called my name, begging me to just look back at him once.

But I never once turned around.
I’d had a crush on Jack since college, but I knew the gap between our statuses was too wide. I never imagined I’d actu- ally marry him one day.
After graduation, we lost touch. I spent a year abroad as an exchange student, where I met Aaron, five years my se-
nior.
He said it was love at first sight and asked for a chance to pursue me.
His demeanor and attire told me he wasn’t ordinary.
I figured someone like him would only be toying with me. Besides, my parents were still back home-I couldn’t just abandon them-so I refused outright.
But he didn’t give up, always finding excuses to be near me.
I slowly developed feelings for him too, but too many obstacles stood in our way. I never did say yes.
The year flew by. Before I returned home, he came to see me off with eyes rimmed red, promising to wait five years. He’d marry me anytime I was ready.
After learning I’d married Jack, he approached Terry to discuss a partnership, helping them break into international
markets.
But he also knew I wasn’t happy.
So after Jack hurt me time and again, Aaron asked me to leave with him once more.
This time, I didn’t hesitate. I said yes.
I followed Aaron abroad. He bought the entire estate where we first met.
Staring at the green grass and blue sky, the tension I’d carried for so long finally began to ease.
On the day my bandages were to come off, he was more nervous than I was, squeezing my hand until my palm grew damp.
“It’ll be fine. It has to be. You’ll see again.”
I smiled and nodded at him.
Only when my eyes met his with deep affection did he finally release a heavy sigh, his face relaxing into a smile.
He pulled me tight against his chest, planting a firm kiss on my forehead.
“Thank God. Thank God.”
In the days that followed, aside from work, he focused entirely on nursing me back to health.
My condition had deteriorated badly. He hired a renowned nutritionist from back home to design my meals.

Chapter 5
My favorite foods and necessary medicinal herbs were airlifted from China.
Our bond deepened rapidly, and we decided to hold the wedding next week.
I thought I’d never cross paths with Jack again. Yet here he was, chasing me all the way overseas.
“Emily… your eyes… they’re healed?”
“That’s wonderful. Truly wonderful.”
His words, coming out of nowhere, made both Aaron and me freeze.
