Ellsworth opened his eyes: “Much better.” 

Hearing this, Harriet withdrew her hands and rubbed them 

together. 

Sitting up straight, Ellsworth looked at Harriet, seeing her quietly sitting beside him, and just gazed at her calmly. 

After rubbing her hands for a while, Harriet looked up and found Ellsworth watching her. She said softly, “Let’s go in.” 

As soon as Harriet finished speaking, Ellsworth raised his right 

hand, pressed it against the back of her head, and with a little 

force, pulled her toward him. 

Then… he kissed her squarely on the lips. 

It’s fine when they don’t see each other, but every time they 

meet, seeing her quietly by his side, so obedient, Ellsworth just

After a long, heated kiss, Harriet’s lips and tongue were left 

tingling and numb. 

She wiped her mouth with her hand, then looked at Ellsworth 

seriously and reminded him, “Ellsworth, don’t do that again.” 

Ellsworth didn’t take it seriously and ignored her words. Instead, 

he picked up a document from the side and handed it to her: 

“Sign this.” 

Taking the document from Ellsworth, Harriet glanced up at him 

before lowering her head to look at the papers in her hands. 

She opened the document unhurriedly, but when she saw the words at the top of the agreement, she froze. 

Snapping back to herself, she looked up at Ellsworth again and said to him, “Ellsworth, I can’t sign this document.” 

A share transfer agreement, and for 10% of the Townsend Group at that-she couldn’t sign it. 

The responsibility was just too great. 

Seeing how serious Harriet was, Ellsworth said lazily, “So you’re not going to help out with the company anymore?” 

But Harriet reminded him solemnly, “Ellsworth, if I sign this, the document takes effect, and 10% of the Townsend Group will be under my name. Aren’t you afraid I’ll get greedy and really swallow it all up?” 

Ellsworth burst out laughing, his laughter hearty as he said, “Well, you’d have to be able to swallow it first. Don’t worry, it’s just a formality for appearances.” 

Ellsworth’s confidence made Harriet look at him with a hint of 

suspicion.

After watching him for a while, she asked, “Ellsworth, are you planning to get a divorce while the stock price is plummeting?” 

As she said this, Harriet glanced at the agreement in her hand 

again. “Is this agreement my divorce compensation?” 

Harriet’s wild imagination made Ellsworth laugh even harder 

than before. He said, “Come on, would a divorce ever come with 

perks like that?”

signed it, no one could use her resignation from the Townsend 

Group against her in the future.

With that thought, Harriet took a pen from her bag and signed her name after all. 

After signing, when Harriet handed the agreement to Ellsworth, he casually put it back where it belonged. 

As for divorce? 

Impossible. Like he said, the Ells family doesn’t have such a 

rule. 

After putting away the agreement, Ellsworth glanced at Harriet 

and said, “Alright, let’s go back and eat.” 

Ellsworth seemed to be in great spirits, as if this whole matter 

hadn’t affected him much at all. 

In reality, it wasn’t that Ellsworth didn’t feel the pain, but since it 

had already happened, feeling bad wouldn’t help. He’d just earn 

it back later. 

Seeing that Ellsworth didn’t drive the car into the yard but 

parked right at the gate, Harriet got out of the car as well. 

She walked around the front of the car and followed Ellsworth 

into the yard. As soon as she stepped inside, Ellsworth took his 

right hand out of his pocket and naturally took her hand. 

It felt completely natural.
