Chapter 14
They shared a knowing smile, the feelings they’d once missed now flowing between them effortlessly.
Wandering through the mall, Scott bought several items tailored to Pamela’s preferences.
With a fond smile, Scott lifted the shopping bags and glanced sideways at Pamela.
“Quite the haul today.”
Pamela grinned, giving two thumbs up. “All thanks to the boss’ generosity!”
Her vibrant energy left Scott momentarily dazed.
Long-dormant memories stirred to life.
Before high school, she’d always been this sunny and outgoing.
Despite her illness, Pamela embraced life more fiercely than anyone.
Yet when high school began, she grew quiet… withdrawn…
Even Scott hadn’t noticed the shift back then.
His eyes darkened.
Entering a bakery, Scott scanned the dazzling pastry displays with uncertainty.
“Pamela, which one would you-”
A shop assistant interrupted, peering curiously at him. “Sir… who are you talking to?”
Scott’s gaze softened. “My girlfriend.”
The assistant’s expression turned odd.
“But… there’s no one beside you!”
No one?
Scott froze mid-breath.
He whipped around-Pamela had vanished.
Only when he looked back did he spot her heading toward the restroom.
Relief washed over him. “She’s just using the restroom.”

The assistant followed his gaze, then fell silent with a strange look.
When Pamela returned, Scott recounted the incident with a chuckle.
She shrugged it off. “Must’ve walked away right then.”
Yet unease prickled Scott’s mind throughout the exchange.
After grabbing groceries, they headed home.
As Scott finished cooking lunch, he found Pamela asleep on the sofa.
The assistant’s words echoed, yet here she was-solid, real.
He murmured, “Just a Blunder…”
Pamela stirred awake, inhaling deeply. “Didn’t know you could cook like this. Impressive.”
She was here. That’s what mattered.
Scott pushed aside his thoughts, calling her to eat.
But tension lined his face during the meal.
Pamela tilted her head. “Scott, your face is an open book.”
“Ask whatever’s on your mind.”
He huffed a laugh. “You know me too well.”
Meeting her eyes, his voice grew solemn. “Will you ever… think about leaving again?”
Pamela’s gaze softened at his vulnerability.
“You read my diary. You know how long I’ve loved you.”
“Why would I walk away now?”
“We’ve wasted ten years already… Let’s not lose more time.”
Scott’s breath caught.
Leaning close until their warmth mingled, he teased, “Are you confessing your feelings?”
Pamela’s face instantly flushed crimson.
She couldn’t speak, just kept eating with her head lowered.
Scott’s smile deepened as he watched her.
“Alright, I accept your confession.”
