Chapter 7

Ethan turned to her with a cold, piercing look.

“What the hell is going on here?”

Chloe shrank behind him, tugging pitifully at his sleeve.

“Ethan, it’s not true… They’re working together, just trying to slander me.”

But Daniel Hart didn’t give her the chance to keep up the act.

He cast the surveillance footage directly onto the big screen.

Crystal clear-HD quality.

Chloe’s face filled the display, every detail captured down to the pores.

The video replayed her leaning close to me, sneering:

‘Sophia, what do you think will happen if Ethan finds out you tried to kill me for this project?” Then, before I could react, she faked a stumble-pretending I’d shoved her toward the mixer.

But in reality, the heels she wore had already been tampered with.

Even without Ethan’s intervention, the shoes created enough resistance against the ground that she never would have fallen in.

But Ethan’s panic blinded him.

He hadn’t noticed any of her tricks.

Now, faced with the footage, his expression darkened.

Chloe, apologize to Mr. Hart.”

I don’t want to…” she whined, voice dripping with false sweetness.

I didn’t mean to, and I didn’t even offend him.”

Ethan’s expression only grew colder.

Daniel took a sip of tea, smiling faintly.

Mr. Miller, if Miss Adams isn’t willing, then don’t force her.”

His tone shifted, quiet but firm as steel.

But let’s be clear-this Silver Creek Project isn’t some casual deal. Not just anyone can take it

>n.”

His voice echoed in the room, leaving no room for doubt.

‘This partnership will either be under Ms. Carter’s leadership… or it’s off the table.”

Ethan’s face turned ashen, shame written all over him.

His eyes flickered with something complicated when they fell on me.

Without another word, he took Chloe and left.

As they exited, I turned to Daniel.

“Thank you again, Mr. Hart, for stepping in.”

I hesitated, still surprised.

“Mr. Hart, this project belongs to your family?”

I had never known.

Daniel was famous as the heir of the Hart Family, a man who usually indulged in antiques and art, rarely stepping into business himself.

I had done my homework before-the owner of Silver Creek shared the Hart surname, but had no visible connection to Daniel.

Hearing my question, he smiled.

“It’s just a side project I gave to my cousin. He had too much free time at home, so I let him play

with it.”

“If you’d told me earlier that you were the one in charge, I could’ve settled it with a single word.”

I shook my head with a small smile.

“Thank you for the offer, but it won’t be necessary.”

“Because this project’s lead… isn’t me anymore.”

Daniel raised a brow.

“I know you and Ethan are fighting. But you’re still husband and wife-marital spats never last.

Besides, I’ve already made my position clear. Even if only out of respect for me, he’d hand th project back to you.”

My smile deepened, but I shook my head again.

“It’s not about whether he gives it back.”

“It’s because…”

“I’ve already chosen to leave the Miller Group.”

For years, I hadn’t just been working for them, nor was I after just thirty percent of the shares.

Quietly, I had been building something of my own, creating my own company.

Up until now, it had been run by my team while I was tied up at the Miller Group.

But finally, I was ready to take the reins.
