Unfortunately, Wyatt moved too quickly. 

The blanket was pulled back, revealing the stuffing inside. 

Wyatt froze. “How is this possible? Where’s the baby?” 

He looked dazed, even rubbing his eyes in 

disbelief. 

But no matter how he looked, what he had so carefully switched was nothing but a bundle of stuffing. 

I crossed my arms, watching him calmly. “Your child? I already had an abortion

months ago. That’s why I went to the hospital back then. Wyatt, you always claim to care about me, say you’ve been betrayed and deceived by me, but if you had shown me even half the attention 

you give Grace, how could you not have noticed?” 

I let out a cold laugh, my voice dripping with sarcasm, though my heart still 

carried a bitter ache. 

I had truly loved Wyatt once–otherwise, I wouldn’t have willingly given up my promising career for him. Even my supervisor said I was being foolish. 

But back then, I thought that by returning to family life, I could have a warm and

happy home.

I tried so hard to be a good wife, doing Wyatt’s laundry and cooking, taking care of his daily needs. 

In the end, my love and devotion meant nothing more than trash to Wyatt. 

Wyatt fell silent, staring blankly at the cotton stuffing, lost in thought. 

He was probably thinking I was heartless. 

After all, when he first learned I was pregnant, he had been excited about the baby’s arrival too. 

But now, it was too late for anything.

The FBI took both of them away, and I went along for questioning as well. 

Before leaving, Hayley, who had been on the ground screaming about how I’d brought shame to the Courtland family, tried to grab at me.

Gone was her usual arrogance–in front of all those people, she actually dropped to her knees before me. “Rylee, I know I was wrong, I misunderstood you! For the sake of us being family, could you please not say those things later?” 

This move of Hayley’s was meant to put me in a difficult position.

If I were a weak person, I might have been flustered by guilt and pressured into agreeing. 

But I’ve never been someone with a good 

temper. 

I said, “When you were cursing me out at the hospital just now, why didn’t you think about us being family? Oh right, didn’t you also want to beat me to death? How is it that you suddenly realize you were wrong?” 

Hearing my sarcasm, Hayley nearly fainted from rage. 

But for her son’s sake, she had to swallow her pride again, actually grabbing onto my

She cried out, “It’s all that shameless 

Grace’s fault! Such vicious schemes must have been her idea! Rylee, you know Wyatt–he’s always been upright, the youngest colonel in the army. He can’t have his record tainted by this!” 

She cried loudly, much more sincerely than when she was cursing me earlier. 

Too bad I wasn’t moved in the slightest. 

I said calmly, “Wyatt is a grown man. He should know what he’s done. When the FBI questions me, I’ll only tell the truth.” 

Hearing this, Hayley suddenly scrambled

up from the ground, pointing at me and cursing, “Are you really going to destroy your husband? How did I never notice how vicious you were before? I never should have agreed to let Wyatt marry you!” 

I brushed away her hand and smiled coldly. “You think I want a waste of space who’s about to go to prison for harboring a spy? Just wait–once I’m done dealing with all this, I’m filing for divorce. Then you’ll have nothing to do with me.” 

Hayley was so angry she couldn’t speak, looking around for help. 

But word of what had happened had already spread, and no one was willing to

step forward to help her. They just stood around pointing and whispering. 

“That’s the family that schemed to switch her baby and make her take the blame!” 

“Oh my, how can people be so heartless? Aren’t they afraid of karma?” 

“Exactly. Thank goodness the FBI caught all those criminals. If you ask me, they 

should be shot!” 

Hearing these comments, Hayley’s eyes rolled back and she actually fainted.
