“Mr. Fu, these are some pastries I made. Feel free to take them for your journey,” Su Wei said, presenting a box of delicately baked cookies, subtly indicating that he could leave after finishing the water and cookies.
Fu Yan’an glanced at her. “Su Wei, it seems you’re quite repelled by me.”
Of course! Who, after eating their fill, would willingly entangle themselves with an ex-husband? Su Wei thought, keeping her composure. “Not at all. It’s just that you’re my superior, and I’m afraid getting too close might invite gossip.”
Fu Yan’an stared at her for a couple of seconds, sarcastically remarking, “You seem to have thought this through.”

“Well, I just want to quietly earn a living.”
Brief and direct exchanges. Fu Yarian, watching her delicate and beautiful face, couldn’t quite fathom his feelings. The more elusive she appeared, the more he desired to understand her.
I’m hungry now. Go prepare something to eat, Fu Yan’an instructed.
Su Wei hesitated, meeting his intense gaze. Wasn’t it better to have the cookies she made and then go have a proper meal with his friends? Why burden her?
Oh well, considering his previous assistance, she reluctantly agreed to cook for him again. “I don’t have many fresh ingredients at home. Is noodles alright?”
“That’s fine,” Fu Yan’an replied, his eyes lingering on the bear-shaped cookies on the table.
In no time, Su Wei came out with a bowl of noodles. The aroma filled the air. Fu Yan’an, still contemplating the remaining cookies, got up to head towards the dining area. Strangely, he had unknowingly consumed half the box of cookies. Perhaps it was due to hunger, but he found these cookies surprisingly delicious.
“Mr. Fu, the noodles are ready.”
Not paying much attention, Fu Yan’an crossed the coffee table and accidentally bumped into it. Su Wei’s bag sitting on the table shook and fell to the ground with a clatter. He paused, glancing down at the scattered
contents.
There, the corner of a jade pendant peeked out.
