Chapter 8 

The phone rang several times before someone finally answered it just as it was about to be 

hung up. 

“Warren, bring Madilyn back immediately. If I don’t see her in fifteen minutes, you can forget about seeing your girlfriend again!” 

Warren instantly panicked when he saw the dagger at Carissa’s neck. 

“Don’t hurt her, where are you? I’m coming to find you right away! Madilyn, Jared Swanson 

has kidnapped Carie, tell him not to harm her!” 

The camera shook, and Madilyn’s face appeared on the screen. 

“Jared?” 

The man stared at her intently. 

“It’s me, Madilyn. You clearly said you would marry me. I gave up everything for you. You can’t 

leave me…” 

He became more and more agitated as he spoke, and the dagger left a bloodstain on Carissa’s 

neck, causing her to cry out in pain. 

Warren’s heart skipped a beat when he saw this scene. 

“Don’t touch her! Carie, don’t be afraid, I will go and save you right away.‘ 

Watching Warren’s nervous expression, Carissa couldn’t help but well up with tears. She bit her lip tightly to prevent herself from crying out loud. 

However, in the next instant, Madilyn’s words froze her in place. 

“Warren, don’t worry, he was never Jared. Ms. Solomon, there really is nothing between Warren and me, you don’t need to put on such a show to test his feelings.” 

As soon as these words were spoken, Warren furrowed his brow and a hint of hesitation 

appeared on his face. 

Carissa’s heart sank to the bottom of the valley.

When Carissa opened her eyes again, she found herself lying on a hospital bed. 

Warren stood by the bed, nervously watching her. 

“Carie, you woke up, is there anywhere uncomfortable?” 

Carissa’s mind is now in complete chaos. 

But she didn’t forget that Warren believed in Madilyn and mercilessly put her in danger. 

If it weren’t for the neighbor who came to her rescue, she would probably have lost her life by 

now.

really Jared, she cried in self–blame for a long time. Anyway, Jared has already been caught now, so please don’t blame her anymore, okay? Carie, I know you are the kindest…” 

She almost lost her life. 

Madilyn shed a few tears, and Warren immediately came to ask for her forgiveness. 

At that moment, a nurse suddenly burst in and said, “Mr. Knapp, Ms. Archer has woken up and 

she is crying, saying she wants to see you.” 

This time, Warren did not choose to leave immediately, but stubbornly stared at her. 

Carissa tugged at the corner of her mouth and said, “You go ahead, I’m tired and I want to 

rest.” 

After saying that, she turned her back and closed her eyes. 

Warren thought that she had agreed to forgive Madilyn, so he kindly tucked her in and said, 

“I’ll go check on her and be back to keep you company in a little while.” 

He left these words behind and turned around to hastily follow the nurse. 

A few minutes later, Carissa completed the discharge procedures alone and hailed a taxi by the 

roadside. 

On the way, she received a photo sent by Madilyn. 

Warren knelt on the ground, holding her ankle, and earnestly put on her shoes. 

Watching the words being typed on the screen, Carissa casually blacklisted her. 

She returned home and walked straight into the study.
