was wearing nothing but a thin silk nightgown.

Chapter 2
Looking at her, I almost wanted to laugh.
My body was nearly numb with cold, but my mind had never been clearer.
I used every ounce of strength to prop up my shaking body and stare her down:
‘Scarlett, when you came back to the States, I was the one who brought you into our home.”
‘I treated you like my own sister, gave you the best of everything, and what did you do?”
My voice wasn’t loud, but it was crystal clear:
Aren’t you exhausted from all this acting?”
And didn’t you have plans with your girlfriends that day to go do yoga…’
When Kai heard my words, he glanced at Scarlett with a slight frown.

That single act of kneeling completely shattered Kai’s last shred of sanity.
He rushed over like a whirlwind, his eyes full of heartbreak as he pulled Scarlett up from the snow and held her tight, like she was some precious treasure he’d lost and found again.
When he looked at me again, the hatred and disgust in his eyes could have flayed me alive.
‘Gianna, have you no shame at all!” His voice was colder than the blizzard.
“Scarlett got on her knees and begged you for forgiveness, and you’re still here spreading lies! You really think I won’t touch you, don’t you?”
