Years later, at some business dinner, I thought I spotted Jaxon once.
He was trailing behind some minor executive, carrying his briefcase and being super kiss-ass.
Madison told me his job hunt after leaving hadn’t gone so well. He was too proud to start from the bottom again, and Bella kept popping up to cause trouble, making potential employers nervous about crossing me
and my company.
So he had to settle for these kinds of small-time gigs.
But whatever-besides talent, he was probably pretty good at that kind of thing too.
Like I said before: you made your bed, now lie in it.
But around me, champagne flowed and handshakes sealed new ventures that would shape my empire. This vas where I belonged-in boardrooms, not bedrooms full of lies.
Summer was ending, autumn calling, and I was ready to embrace whatever came next. One step at a time,
