I turned and smiled at the approaching figure:
“Dad.”
“I thought you were sending a driver. Why’d you come yourself?”
Dad reached over and ruffled my hair affectionately:
“If I hadn’t come, how would I know what kind of stupid shit your ex was planning to pull?”
He looked at Jaxon with complete disgust. Jaxon cowered and hung his head, drowning in regret.
The golden ladder he’d been dreaming of had been right there beside him all along. Why the hell had he
chased after Bella instead?
“Uncle… Uncle…” Bella stammered, but Dad immediately cut her off:
“Uncle? I don’t have a niece like you.”
Dad’s voice was ice-cold. Jaxon’s whole body shook, veins bulging on his forehead.
I smiled quietly.
Dad had disowned this “niece” years ago.
Because she was his brother’s mistress’s kid-a bastard child.
Bella and her mother were cut from the same cloth: entitled and vicious. But her mother’s crimes were
unforgivable.
In a single accident, she’d killed Dad’s brother, sister-in-law, and their three-month-old baby.
Dad had supported Bella growing up out of some sense that kids were innocent, but she and her mom were both trouble. She constantly used his name to cause problems, becoming notorious in their circles as a “little psycho.”
Eventually, Dad got fed up and cut off her funding. When she couldn’t make it overseas anymore, she came back to the States and ended up at this subsidiary.
“I know exactly what you’re about, and I’m not wasting my breath.” Dad shifted his gaze from Bella to focus on Jazon:

“But you, Jaxon.”
“I used to think you were decent. Good enough for my daughter to choose, treated her well for six years.”
“Turns out you were just waiting for the right opportunity to show your true colors.”
“One promotion, one Bella, and boom-there’s the real you.”
Dad wasn’t pulling any punches. Jaxon’s face cycled through green and white, his shoulders trembling, but he didn’t dare look up.
‘Well, whatever. Victoria was already talking to me about engagement plans, but lucky for her, she saw
hrough you quick enough.” Dad smiled and patted my shoulder:
‘Let’s go home. I’ve got a late dinner ready-all your favorites.”
Don’t waste time on people who aren’t worth it.”
followed Dad as he walked away, while behind us the sound of arguing gradually grew louder.
axon was blaming Bella for putting on airs and ruining his chances; Bella was calling him a backstabbing
piece of shit.
ust dogs tearing into each other-boring and predictable. Not nearly as interesting as Dad’s hazelnut cake.
The farewell dinner was just one tiny blip in my schedule. I couldn’t care less about Jaxon and Bella’s petty Irama. Their impact on my life had ended a month ago.
The real focus was my career’s new chapter. Seven years of hard work, and the higher I climbed, the heavie he responsibility. Naturally, I had to be fully prepared.
After spending two weeks with Dad at headquarters, I flew back home to handle the work transition and
Landover.
Back at the domestic subsidiary, news of my real identity was no longer a secret-it had spread through the entire company.
But everyone took it in stride. No one gossiped about me, and our interactions stayed normal. People maintained that professional balance without any weird changes.
On the other hand, the tech department drama became the hottest office gossip, even more popular than my
news.
The formerly lovey dovey, high-profile model couple had returned from their overseas trip as complete
strangers.

“Seriously? And Bella was acting like she was untouchable this whole time,” Madison scoffed after hearing about the headquarters shitshow.
“She’s been throwing her weight around forever. Finance came to me complaining that she forced them to expense her personal stuff, and they were too scared to push back.”
‘I figured the chairman had given her special privileges, but now? Not so much.”
Bella started hitting walls everywhere at the company. Colleagues who’d always resented her could finally
top worrying about her connections. Some enterprising types even dug up photos of her partying at overseas clubs, exposing her whole background.
The innocent fresh-grad act? Total bullshit. Jaxon thought he was playing Bella, but really, he was just
nother guy in her rotation.
hey’d been using each other, both with hidden agendas, until it all blew up.
axon quickly announced his breakup with Bella, claiming they had nothing to do with each other.
He’d been all dramatic and clingy breaking up with me, but with Bella? Clean and simple.
Bella wasn’t going down without a fight though. She actually compiled all the evidence of his cheating into a ‘owerPoint and sent it to every company group chat.
Of course, the part about me was included with my permission.
