Chapter 1
When my father got hit by a car, my husband climbed out of the passenger seat with his clothes disheveled.
I stayed at the hospital caring for Dad while he guarded the driver being questioned at the police station.
When I refused to settle, he smashed a thermos against my head.
“She’s a lawyer! Do you want to ruin her career?
What are you trying to do?”
I calmly wiped the blood from my forehead, staring at his panicked, belated regret.
This wasn’t his first affair, but it was the most serious one.
Suddenly I remembered what he’d told me five years into our marriage, grinning:
“Wouldn’t you get bored sleeping with only one person for the rest of your life?
Fair’s fair-I won’t mind how you play around either.”
“I give them sex, but you get my love.”
Later, I took his advice and got involved with the man he personally sent my way.
Then he knelt begging me to come home.
Blood kept flowing as Victor frantically pulled out tissues, dabbing while frowning.
“Why didn’t you dodge?
Does it hurt?”
“I didn’t mean to! I just panicked!
Deborah’s young and talented-I value her potential. Be reasonable and let this go.”
I pushed his hand away, firm. “That’s my father!”
“Enough. Your dad only cares about money. Take the compensation if you truly care about him.”
Just as I tensed to retort, his phone rang.
“Victor, where are you?

Chapter 1
They’ve grilled me for hours without even letting me eat. I’m dizzy and can barely stand.”
His accidental speakerphone unleashed Deborah’s plaintive voice through the receiver.
Hearing this, he clenched his phone, worry etching his face. “Hold on, I’m coming back!”
After hanging up, he locked eyes with me. “Jessica, last chance. Will you sign the settlement?”
When I refused, Victor turned and walked away without looking back.
That retreating figure-I’d seen it too many times over the years.
Yet things between Victor and me hadn’t always been this way.
After graduation, I joined Ramirez Corporation where Victor became my first trainee.
Back then, nobody knew his real identity-including me.
Clever and driven, he still made rookie mistakes I’d quietly fix.
At a company party, drunk, he pinned me against the wall. “Jessica, I like you!
I don’t want to be your trainee. I want to be your boyfriend. Your husband!”
His whiskey breath intoxicated me too, and I foolishly agreed.
By the time I learned the truth, escape was impossible.

Victor loved me openly. For me, he replaced all female staff on his floor with men. He’d remember every date-big or small-even my family’s birthdays. Anything I glanced at, he’d secretly buy for me.
People mocked him: a CEO wrapped around a woman’s finger. He couldn’t care less.
But no one expected that Victor, who loved me so much,
would express his desire for an open marriage in the fifth year of our union.
Victor wasn’t asking-he was telling.
And Deborah, the driver who hit my father, was his 44th lover since we’d married.
