Chapter63

It was actually quite nice.

So, after a brief farewell, Reginald headed home, and Harriet

returned to her room to continue working.

Reginald’s unexpected visit had actually lightened the mood

quite a bit.

Someone like Reginald was born to devote himself to his career

and to science.

***

Meanwhile, in the small conference room downstairs.

Ellsworth was discussing business with several partners, two of

whom had flown in from Mablaria.

Kelsey was by his side.

Leaning back in his chair, right leg crossed over his left,

Ellsworth was casually flipping through the strategic

partnership agreement when Noel suddenly came over.

Noel bent down and whispered a few words in Ellsworth’s ear,

and Ellsworth’s expression instantly darkened.

After Noel finished his report, Ellsworth’s expression returned to

normal-languid and relaxed, yet unable to hide his innate

nobility.

Placing the closed agreement back on the table, neither too

lightly nor too heavily, Ellsworth said, “Mr. Russell, it’s getting

late today. Let’s discuss the details another time. You’re also

welcome to visit Amberville.”

Hearing Ellsworth’s words, Mr. Russell glanced at his watch-it

was already nine o’clock.

After checking the time, Mr. Russell immediately said in somewhat unpolished English, “Sorry, Mr. Townsend, for taking

up so much of your time. Let’s continue our discussion in

Amberville another day.”

Ellsworth stood up, and the two men from Mablaria, along with

Kelsey and the others, also got up.

As everyone walked to the door, they shook hands and said

their goodbyes.

Kelsey followed Ellsworth out.

Chapter)

As the two walked to the elevator, Kelsey asked, “Ells, the Townsend Group has been involved in quite a few

semiconductor projects these past two years. Are you interested in the project we just discussed?”

With both hands habitually in his pockets, Ellsworth replied in a

calm voice, “We can observe, and learn more about it.”

Kelsey perked up at this, her eyes shining as she looked at him. “Then let’s find a place to talk. I want to share my thoughts with

you, if you don’t mi…”

Before Kelsey could finish inviting Ellsworth to her room, he

interrupted her, “Let’s talk about this another day. Hara is sick.”

When Ellsworth said Harriet was sick-and even called her Hara-

the smile on Kelsey’s face froze.

She forced a smile after staring at Ellsworth for a while, then

said awkwardly, “Alright, let’s set another time.”

She quickly changed the subject, asking, “How is Hara?”

“A bad cold. She’s taking medicine.”

The elevator doors opened. Ellsworth stepped in, pressed the

button for his floor, and also pressed the button for Kelsey’s

floor upstairs.

Ellsworth was eager to get back. As Kelsey entered the elevator,

she looked a bit disappointed.

Standing next to Ellsworth, she really wanted to ask if he and

Harriet were still getting divorced, and whether he would keep

his promise to her sister.

But seeing that Ellsworth seemed to be in a bad mood tonight,

she didn’t ask anything.

When they reached the 22nd floor, Ellsworth said goodbye to

Kelsey and got out of the elevator first.

In the elevator, watching Ellsworth’s figure disappear, Kelsey’s

eyes gradually dimmed.

Harriet wasn’t as simple as she seemed-she was quite shrewd.

Striding to the door of his room, Ellsworth kept one hand in his

pocket and used the other to swipe his key card and open the

door.

The moment he opened the door, Ellsworth instinctively looked

around the room.

Fortunately, aside from Harriet sitting at the desk reading, there

was no one else in the room.

As his brow relaxed slightly, Harriet looked up and greeted him, “All done?”

At that moment, Harriet was flipping through one of the professional books Reginald had given her.

“Yeah.” Ellsworth replied indifferently, glanced around the room again, and even patted the bed a few times.

Harriet ignored him.

After checking the room, Ellsworth didn’t mind that Harriet was

sick. He walked over to the desk, pinched Harriet’s chin to make

her look at him, and asked her directly, “Did Reginald come by just now?”

Forced to look up at Ellsworth, Harriet finally understood what

he had been searching for in the room earlier.

For a moment, Harriet didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

In the end, she pushed Ellsworth’s hand away, lowered her head

to continue reading, and said calmly, “Ellsworth, I don’t want to

argue with you. Besides, we’ll probably go through the

formalities when we get back. If I really had any intentions, I

could wait a few more days.”

He never demanded anything of himself, yet always demanded things of others.

Unreasonable.

Unimpressed by Harriet’s attitude, Ellsworth walked behind her,

placed both hands on the desk to trap her in his arms, looked at

her face, and asked with a half-smile, “Harriet, do you really

have a change of heart? Since it’s come to this, tell me after all

the scheming to marry into the Townsend family, why do you

suddenly want nothing at all?”
