Chapter 20

Henry’s eyes were bloodshot as he watched the scene. Instead of what he had hoped to see, he saw me with another man.

He stormed over, grabbed Erwan and punched him.

I screamed in shock and immediately stepped in front of Erwan, ignoring the pain in my foot.

“Henry, what’s wrong with you?!”

Hearing my scolding, Henry looked at me with hurt eyes, pointed at himself and muttered, “I’m crazy? You’re saying I’m crazy?”

“Then what are you doing, you unfaithful woman? We’re not even divorced yet, so why are you

with him?”

“Have you already planned to leave with this pretty boy? Is that why you’ve been with him these past three years?”

Hearing Henry repeatedly call him “pretty boy,” I raised my hand and slapped him. “Are you awake now? If not, I can help you wake up.”

I looked at him coldly, as if he were nothing. “Henry, don’t think everyone is as disgusting as you.”

“I’ve already signed the divorce papers. Don’t bother me again, or I’ll call the police.”

With that, I bent down, picked up my high heels and walked out of the back garden barefoot.

Erwan followed close behind.

When we were alone, I stopped and gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry, I embarrassed you. That was my ex-husband.”

I looked at his swollen cheek, my heart aching. “And… I’m sorry about today. I’ll treat you to a meal another day to make it up to you.”

“Don’t make it another day. Let’s do it today.”

Erwan suddenly suggested.

I stared at him, surprised. He leaned closer and smiled. “What’s wrong? Not happy with that?”

“If it’s not convenient, we can do it another day. It’s just… I don’t have your contact information and I wouldn’t know how to find you.”

I laughed at Erwan’s subtle words. It was clear that he was just making up an excuse to get my contact information.

After he successfully added me as a friend, I saw the excitement in his eyes almost overflowing. “The party is about to start. If you don’t mind, will you dance the first dance with me?” Erwan bowed politely.

I lowered my gaze to his slender, fair fingers. I hesitated, ready to refuse, but stopped when I saw his moist, expectant eyes.

Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Henry chasing after me.

For some reason, I placed my hand in Erwan’s palm without hesitation. He immediately

tightened his grip and pulled me close. His arm wrapped firmly around my waist and his warm breath brushed my ear.

“You can’t escape now.”

During my first dance with Erwan, I could still feel Henry’s gaze on me, filled with mixed emotions, admiration, regret and even pleading.

“Sister, focus.”

A sudden tightening around my waist made me look at Erwan.

“Why are you pinching me?” I asked.

Erwan’s lips curved downward as he smoothly guided me through the dance. “Because you

weren’t paying attention. You dared to look at another man while you were with me.”

The dance ended.
