Chapter 13
When Sophie silently led him to a tombstone, the joy on Henry’s face froze.
His pupils narrowed in shock as he stared at the photo. “Andrew?”
“Sister, what are you doing? You’re teaming up with Kate to trick me, but you can’t joke about Andrew. He’s the young heir of the Taylor Family. You-”
“You still don’t want to believe the truth?” Sophie cut him off, her eyes sorrowful as she looked at the photo.
Henry’s body went stiff. He slowly turned his head. “Are you kidding me? How could Andrew be dead? Anya told me just a few days ago she saw Andrew going to school…”
Before he could finish, Sophie pressed his head against the tombstone. “Henry, open your eyes and look carefully. Is this Andrew?”
“Andrew is the Taylor Family’s only heir. I could never joke about this. And it’s you who wa infertile, not Kate.”
“The doctor said you were infertile four years ago. As for the child in Anya’s belly, I don’t knov which bastard it belongs to.”
“Henry, I truly regret giving Kate to you!”
Hearing Sophie’s heartbroken words, Henry’s eyes widened in disbelief. He broke free from he grip and glared at her with a dark, dangerous look. “Sophie, you may be my sister, but I’m still the head of the Taylor Family. If you work with Kate to deceive me again, I’ll block your card!”
“Then block it,” Sophie replied without concern. “Do you really think I need your little bit of money?”
For years, Sophie had claimed she was traveling abroad, but in truth, she had been building her
own power.
I had once told her that a woman must build her own career to have a way out.
Now, Sophie was no longer afraid of Henry’s threats.
Henry couldn’t believe she was so confident, but Sophie didn’t bother speaking to him again and turned to leave.
The sky grew dark, thunder rumbled and rain poured down.
Henry stood before the tombstone in the downpour, his eyes fixed on the photo. After a long time, with a chill in his chest, he pulled out his phone and called his assistant.
“Get an excavator.”
Soon, the excavator arrived.
With a cold expression, Henry ordered, “Dig the coffin out for me.’
He still refused to believe our son was dead and even more, he refused to believe I would abandon eight years of love and leave him.
When the coffin was unearthed along with the soil, Henry rushed forward and opened it eagerly. The empty coffin deepened his shock.
“I knew Sophie was lying to me! I knew Kate was just putting on a show!”
Henry’s smile widened and his eyes darkened. “If I hadn’t reacted so quickly, I would have been fooled.
“Kate, you’re impressive.”
Believing he had found proof, Henry drove straight to Sophie’s residence. When she saw him coming, Sophie blocked the doorway. “What are you doing? Trespassing?”
Henry pushed her hand aside and glared coldly. “I know Kate is hiding with you. If you don’t hand her over, I won’t care that you’re my sister…”
Sophie raised her hand and slapped him. “Are you in your right mind? If not, I can give you a few
more to wake you up.”
