Chapter 8 

Olivia stood tall, unyielding, her eyes fierce, “Why? I despise her, that’s why!” 

“I just want her to suffer–to be dragged through the mud like I was, with no chance to 

recovert 

Walter remained silent, his gaze piercing as he watched her closely, 

When Olivia noticed his intense stare, her demeanor softened, and her eyes filled with manipulative tenderness. 

“Walter, you’ll help me, right?” she pleaded softly, 

She smiled, a deceptive calm in her voice. “Once we handle Lily Anderson, we can escape this place. We’ll start fresh in a new city, a new life.” 

Walter’s silence lingered heavy in the air before he finally nodded. 

Relieved by his agreement, Olivia let out a deep sigh. 

Walter quickly left with his children, pulling out his cellphone only once he was outside the hospital 

“Did you catch all that?” 

I listened to his gruff voice through the phone and nodded, even though he couldn’t see 

me 

“Olivia’s gone too far this time. I’m cutting all ties with her. Don’t get me or the kids involved in whatever you’re planning,” he stated firmly. 

I agreed, my focus had always been solely on that person anyway. 

When I first met Walter, something about him seemed eerily familiar. Later, in a restless dream, I realized he was the man from my past life–the one who sent me to my death. 

Early on, I had approached him and offered three hundred thousand to secure his cooperation. 

The mention of Olivia’s thirty million had shaken me, but Walter’s next words reassured

“Don’t worry,” he said gravely, “Even if I went along with Olivia’s plan, she’d never really share that fortune with me and the kids.” 

“All I want now is a quiet life with my children. Nothing more,” he added, a note of finality in 

his voice 

As soon as Olivia received the money from Dad, she coldly handed over the children to him. 

Unexpectedly, he decided to bring the twins to our home. 

“Sophie, haven’t you always wanted a son? Look how adorable these two are,” he exclaimed 

1 excused myself, feeling a headache coming on, and retreated to my room.

The noise of their quarrel outside grew louder. 

“Jim Anderson, are you insane? Do you think I’m so desperate that I’d settle for your leftover mess?” Mom snapped back. 

Dad, caught off guard by her ferocity, tried to justify himself. “Why are you being like this? They’re the heirs to the Anderson family. Didn’t you want a son before?” 

“I asked you to look after them, not to parade them like this. I thought once you sorted your life out, we might consider remarrying, but now…” He trailed off, unsure. 

Before he could finish, Mom cut him off sharply, “Jim, you’re delusional. Remarry? After everything, the mere thought disgusts me!” 

Laughing out loud, I felt a newfound respect for my mother’s resilience. 

It was refreshing to see Mom like this. 

“You better leave now. Stay any longer, and I can’t guarantee you or those kids will walk out on your own.” 

Mom’s command was sharp, and soon after, the sound of the door slamming shut echoed, restoring silence. 

I chose not to emerge, staying put in my room. This was a moment when solitude was what my mother needed most. 

Dad’s visits became less frequent and eventually stopped after a few harsh rejections. 

Then, Walter reached out again. 

“Ms. Anderson, Olivia is planning to make her move next week.” 

Can’t she wait any longer? 

I smirked, “Alright, “Just follow her lead and leave the rest to me.” 

Walter’s response was subdued, almost inaudible. 

Little did Olivia know, I had an ace up my sleeve–a cousin in the police force. 

“It’s too risky. I could bust her right now,” he had once suggested. 

But I shook my head. Arresting her immediately would tip her off. Olivia had already moved the money, and if I were out of the picture, she’d be on the first flight out, possibly forever beyond reach. 

That might be her happiest moment, but I preferred to wait–shattering her dreams when they were at their peak would be far more satisfying.
