Chapter 14: Pregnant? What a Ridiculous Dream 

Elias Sterling turned around calmly. 

He had a face so striking it was almost too beautiful-high brows, sharp nose, thin lips, every feature carved like marble into perfection. 

His whole aura felt like untouched frost from centuries past. 

Sebastian froze. He hadn’t expected the man to be this good-looking, and a wave of insecurity surged in him. 

“What are you doing in a room with my wife?” Sebastian’s voice was sharp and aggressive, repeating “my wife” like a badge of ownership. 

Elias looked at his self-righteous attitude with a hint of mockery in his eyes. 

So this was the man who cheated on his wife with her sister, now pretending to care. 

“Sebastian.” Hazel finally spoke up, her voice edged with warning. “Don’t talk to my friend like that.” 

Her marriage was already a disgrace. She wasn’t going to let Elias get dragged into the mess. 

Sebastian hadn’t expected her to call him by his full name in front of a stranger. Was she trying to hide the fact that she was married? 

The more he thought about it, the more irritated he got. Still, he forced a smile. “Honey, since when did you start having male friends? Aren’t you going to introduce us?” 

Sebastian was always possessive-intolerant of any man around her. When they first dated, he deleted every male contact from her phone. 

Even after they got married, when she worked in a hospital, she once had a male patient who got handsy with her. Sebastian saw it, stormed in, and punched the guy twice. 

It was the only time the usually cold and gentle Sebastian lost control. Afterward, he forced her to quit her job and stay home full time. 

He’d said he loved her too much to let any other man near her. 

Back then, she had believed that-believed it was love. 

Now, it just felt pathetic. 

If he loved her, why would he cheat? 

If he loved her, why would he take away her chance to shine at work, and trap her at home as a housewife? 

“Do I need to report every detail of my life to you?” Hazel’s tone was cold, distant. 

Sebastian hadn’t expected her to slap him in the face like that—again. 

She used to be so obedient. He was more convinced than ever that this man had seduced her. 

Suppressing his anger, he turned to Elias. “Would you kindly leave? My wife and I need to talk in private.” 

Elias didn’t respond. His gaze just dropped to Hazel’s face. 

Hazel gave Elias an apologetic look. She didn’t want him to be the one Sebastian threw a tantrum at, 

“Sorry. Please thank Dr. Grant for me.” 

Once Elias left the room, Sebastian immediately snapped, “Hazel, don’t you think you owe me an explanation?” 

Hazel couldn’t help but laugh. The audacity.

He cheated on her with her own sister, and now he wanted explanations? 

She wasn’t in the mood to argue. Her voice was cold. “He works at the lab.” 

Sebastian’s face lit up with a knowing look. 

So all those times she’d insisted on going to the lab-it was for that man. 

He grabbed her wrist tightly, “Hazel, I don’t want you going to the lab anymore.” 

Hazel laughed, stunned. “Why should I listen to you?” 

What gave him the right to keep controlling her life? 

Sebastian spoke as if he was the noble one. “I’ll take care of your sister’s illness. There’s no need for you to exhaust yourself working. Just stay home like before.” 

Hazel was so furious she almost choked. 

Did he really think she was working at the lab for Vivian? 

How shameless could he be? 

“I’m going,” she said through gritted teeth, her voice firm. 

Sebastian’s brows knitted. Her resistance was driving him mad. “Is it because of that man? How far have you two gone?” 

He couldn’t stop thinking about how long they were alone in this room. Jealousy clouded his judgment. 

He leaned down, invading her space. “Did he touch you?” 

Slap! 

Hazel couldn’t take it anymore. 

She raised her hand and slapped him across the face. 

Her whole body trembled. Clenching her fists, she spoke through clenched teeth, each word laced with fury: 

“Since you came here, not once did you ask about my condition. Did you ask why I’m in this bed?” 

“Did you ask if I was in pain?” 

“You’re so paranoid-maybe because you’re the one who’s guilty. You think everyone’s just like you, don’t you?” 

Sebastian froze. 

Her words struck a nerve. 

There was panic in his eyes, though he quickly masked it. 

No. There was no way she knew, 

If she knew, she would’ve exploded long ago. She wouldn’t have kept it in. 

He lowered his head guiltily, grabbed her hand, and slapped himself with it. “Of course not, Hazel. I would never betray you. I was just jealous and didn’t notice you weren’t feeling well.” 

“It’s my fault. I care about you too much.” 

To Hazel, his false sincerity was nothing but an empty act. 

She felt no emotion-just bone deep exhaustion. 

She closed her eyes, her voice flat. “I need to rest. Please leave.” 

Sebastian looked at her worriedly. “Hazel, your face is so pale. What did the doctor say?” 

“It’s just a bit of anemia. I fainted, that’s all,” she said blandly. 

Sebastian knew she’d always been anemic and underweight. “Then once you’re discharged. I’ll have the housekeeper make you some nourishing soup.” 

“You’re always slacking-never take your meds or eat properly.” 

As he spoke, a smile crept onto his lips. A soft, doting smile. His hand drifted to her stomach. 

“I wonder if this flat little belly can handle our baby one day.” 

“Hazel, let’s try for a baby, okay?” 

“I can’t wait to meet our child.” 

Because once she was pregnant, she’d stop going to that lab. 

She wouldn’t wander off, wouldn’t meet anyone new. 

She’d go back to the way she was before-at home, waiting for him, revolving around his world. 

The more Sebastian thought about it, the more pleased he became. 

Hazel, on the other hand, didn’t even bother responding. 

Pregnant? 

What a ridiculous dream.
