Chapter 10 

The rescue team searched for Sampson for three days, but there was no trace of him at all. 

Desiree was already on the verge of collapse, and she cried every day. 

Looking at her, I felt no sympathy at all. 

She had been the one who came up with this plan, after all. 

I cried for three months when I first searched for Sampson. There was only despair in my 

life. 

And yet, when it was her turn, Desiree couldn’t even handle it in merely several days. 

On the fourth day, Sampson suddenly appeared. He immediately embraced me, trembling. 

“Bethany, I know you still love me. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have searched for me for three 

days and nights. I know what I did is wrong… It’s all Desiree’s idea! This time, I made sure 

she couldn’t find me. You shouldn’t have come. That way, I’d stay hidden for a little while longer so she could feel all your pain. Still… I’m happier that you’re here.” 

Sampson was still rambling when Lambert punched him to the ground. 

“Stay away from my Luna, Sampson,” Lambert hissed. 

Sampson wiped the blood from his mouth, then saw me in Lambert’s embrace. He gritted his teeth and spat furiously, “What do you mean your Luna? Bethany is my Luna!” 

Lambert looked down at him with a sneer. “Did you forget, Sampson? Your mate bond with Bethany is already severed. Looks like the way I broke your leg isn’t severe enough since you managed to help it so fast. Well, I won’t hold back this time.” 

No wonder the way Sampson walked was a little strange! 

That day, after Lambert dragged Sampson away, the two of them fought in the woods. In the end, Lambert broke Sampson’s leg, and Sampson fled. He was still recovering from the

injury. 

Sampson staggered to his feet, then pulled out a silver blade and lunged at Lambert. 

I didn’t hesitate and stepped in front of Lambert, my arms spread wide. 

Lambert’s face went pale, but the blade stopped just in front of my chest. 

“Are you crazy, Bethany? Who told you to shield me?!” 

I turned around and saw Lambert’s furious eyes. 

I played coy with him and said, “Scold me later. Let’s deal with Sampson first.”

I stood in front of Sampson and snarled coldly, “Sampson, you’ve hurt the ones who loved you again and again. You toyed with them, and you enjoyed every second of it. If it wasn’t because Desiree came begging me, I wouldn’t have lifted a finger, even if you were dead.” 

Sampson looked at me with pain in his eyes. “So, you didn’t come for me? You came because that wench begged you?” 

His shameless words enraged me, and I slapped him. “I didn’t think you could be this 

shameless! No matter what Desiree did, she loved you. Yet, you humiliated her like this.” 

Desiree, who had been hiding in the corner, finally walked out. She had been listening to 

our conversation, and there was no longer love in her eyes–only hate. 

I turned to her and said, “This is between you two, so handle it yourselves. Don’t show up in front of me again. You two annoy me.” 

On the way back to the pack, Lambert said nothing, his expression dark. He was clearly still angry about how reckless I was. 

“Do you know what would happen to you if that blade didn’t stop? What should I do if…” 

His voice was trembling. He couldn’t even imagine the consequences. 

I held his face and kissed him. “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again.”

After that, our bond deepened.

Lambert proposed to me during our first anniversary, and immediately started planning the mating ceremony. 

He handled everything personally. I didn’t know how much he had done until the day I tried on my wedding dress. 

While preparing for the ceremony, I received news about Sampson. 

After his first disappearing stunt, which toyed with all the Alphas from the other packs, his reputation crumbled. All of them had severed ties with him after that. Without any support, he had been permanently stripped of his title and reduced to an ordinary warrior. 

Because of Sampson, his pack was devastated. Due to all the losses, the members of his 

pack turned against him. 

After his last stunt, Sampson finally managed to earn everyone’s ire. He was banished from the pack and ended up becoming a Rogue. 

In the end, he was torn apart and devoured by a Rogue while fighting over a hare. 

His lies became prophecy–he had brought everything upon himself. 

“What are you thinking about? The ceremony’s about to start soon. You shouldn’t be drifting off at such an important moment when you’re the star,” Lambert said. 

He walked over to me, tilting my head and kissing me, 

I smiled and kissed him back gently. 

We stepped into our mating ceremony, hand in hand. 

From now on, my life would begin anew…
