He had one hand around Marcus’s throat, the other balled into a fist, beating the shit out of him over and over.

He was taking all his rage out on this kidnapper, but even if he beat Marcus to death, it still wouldn’t be enough.

Marcus was barely breathing when he managed to gasp out a few words.

“Mr. Harrington… we were just… paid to do a job…”

Dominic’s eyes narrowed. “By who?”

Marcus’s hand was shaking as he pulled something out of his pocket.

It was my charm. The one that matched Dominic’s.

Dominic held his breath as he took the blood-stained thing and slowly opened it up. Inside was a piece of paper.

The paper had a list of everyone connected to Sophie, with all the other names crossed out except one-Lily.

If this was before, Dominic would’ve thought this was just me being jealous.

Me being petty about Lily, treating her like my enemy.

But now he got it. He understood what I was really trying to tell him.

Lily wasn’t just my romantic rival.

I’d been secretly helping Dominic find the truth this whole time.

Dominic told everyone to get the hell out. Now it was just me and him in that room.

Well, not really me. Not a complete me anyway.

He couldn’t look at my face. Couldn’t look at where he’d cut into my back.

With nobody around, he covered his face with his hands and couldn’t lift his head.

Wait… was he… crying?

We grew up together, and except for the day Sophie died, I’d never seen him cry.

Even when Sophie died, he only shed one tear.

But now I could see tears streaming through the gaps between his fingers.

I heard him mumble, “I’m sorry…”

I wanted to ask him what exactly he was sorry for,

But at this point, whatever answer he gave wouldn’t matter anyway.

I was already dead,

If it wasn’t for how deep my resentment ran, I probably wouldn’t have even gotten to hear that apology.

Thinking about it, I actually wanted to comfort him.

Dominic, don’t feel sorry. You should feel relieved.

From now on, nobody’s gonna bother you. Nobody’s gonna chase after you. Nobody’s gonna take up that fiancée spot anymore.

“You’re not gonna talk? That’s fine. I already know.”

“My sister-you killed her too, didn’t you?”
