Chapter 7 Never Compare To Daisy

Zephyr signaled him to be quiet, continuing to gaze down at the scene below from their vantage point

Meanwhile, Sadie looked down and revealed a smile.

Neville made it seem as if doing his laundry was a favor bestowed upon. her.

She was just about to refuse when Alexander suddenly lost his temper. Go to hell!He then stepped forward and knocked Neville to the ground.

He was the type to act rather than speak, so the kick he delivered was quite forceful.

Neville clutched his chest, grimacing in pain. He almost couldn’t get back up.

Daisy’s face turned pale, and she quickly helped him up, exclaiming, Neville!”

Neville’s face contorted in anger, and he glared at Alexander. You dare to hit me? Even if you are the fourth son of The Duke, you have no right to assault people in public!”

So what?Alexander boasted, If you dare, hit me back!”

Sadie.Daisy’s eyebrows knitted together as she spoke. Are you just going to watch while Neville gets beaten up?”

Neville sneered, She’s high and mighty now, not even sparing us a glance! She’s an ungrateful wretch, even though we’ve spent years raising her! Sadie, if you have the guts, never come back to the Francis family! We don’t need a sister like you!”

Sadie’s expression was cold.

When she was a child, her father and brothers would often threaten her with words like these, telling her they would disown her if she didn’t behave.

One winter, they went to the market. The money they had was almost spent, only some sugarcoated haws.

though to buy Daisy

Sadie was only six back then, and she gazed longingly at her sister’s candycoated hawthorns, insisting she

wanted some, too,

Adonis scolded her impatiently, saying that she shouldn’t be gluttonous and ignorant. He even stated that she didn’t understand the basic principle of being modest.

Oliver then stated that they had decided to disown her.

Following that, they took Daisy away in a carriage, leaving Sadie alone on the unfamiliar streets.

She was really scared back then.

She chased after the carriage with all her might, stumbling and falling repeatedly. Even when her knees and palms were scraped raw, she was still compelled to get up and continue the pursuit.

Tears streaming down her face/she pleaded that she would behave, promising never to take Daisy’s things again. She begged them not to leave her behind.

Those were such unpleasant memories.

Chapter 7 Never Compare To Dalsy

Sadie calmly lifted her gaze. 111 never return to the Francis family, and I don’t want to be your sister

anymore.”

Upon hearing this, Neville was taken aback, assuming she was just venting her frustration.

After all, he was well aware of how fond Sadie was of her older brothers.

He chuckled. We haven’t seen each other for a few days, and now you’ve even learned how to talk tough! Do you want me to appease you, just like I do with Daisy? I’ll make it clear to you right now. Don’t even think about it! In my heart, you’ll never be on par with Daisy!”

However, Sadie didn’t react as he had anticipated, showing no signs of heartwrenching sorrow.

Sadie simply glanced toward Daisy, who was cradling a bundle of quill, ink, parchment, and an inkwell in her arms. Did you go to the market today to buy supplies for Cranesong Academy, Daisy?”

Yes.Daisy nodded. Neville came with me. He bought all these things for me with the money he had been saving up.”

Neville is really good to you,” Sadie complimented before swiftly changing the subject. But there are only two spots at Cranesong Academy. Considering how good Neville is to you, why wouldn’t you give up your spot for him?”

Before anyone could react, Sadie grabbed Alexander’s sleeve. Let’s go, Alex.”

Daisy tightly clutched the quill, ink, parchment, and inkwell, as if she were holding onto a hot potato.

She hesitated before looking at Neville.

The latter clenched his fists tightly.

For some reason, when Sadie addressed Alexander intimately, it truly made him uncomfortable.

It was as if he was about to lose something.

However, his most beloved sister was right by his side. How could he possibly feel upset just because Sadie addressed Alexander like that?

Daisy noticed that his expression was off, tentatively asking. Neville, do you want to go to Cranesong Academy? II can give you my spotAlthough I’m not in the best health and don’t have any other hobbies, I just love to immerse myself in reading. But there’s not much use for a girl like me to study so much…

As she spoke, she coughed weakly.

Snapping back to reality, Neville quickly patted her back with tender care. I’m not going! You know I don’t like studying. Sadie is just trying to stir up trouble. Don’t mind her! She thinks she’s climbed up the social ladder, but little does she know, she’s just a source of amusement! Once we start ignoring her, she’ll realize how formidable we are!”

Sadie and Alexander had already left the jewelry shop.

Alexander was in high spirits. He carefully placed the hairpin into Sadie’s hair bun, exclaiming, You look stunning!”

Sadie expressed her concern. You used all the money to buy the silver hairpin. What about Grandmother’s birthday present?

Chapter 7 Never Compare To Daisy

Alexander said with a grin, T’ll think of something else!”

As they were conversing. Zephyr emerged,

Alexander hastily greeted, Zephyr”

Sadie also gave a respectful bow.

Zephyr’s gaze settled on the young girl’s hair bun.

Fhilshed

Her hair was thick, with a yellow butterfly knot ribbon cascading over her shoulder. Two silver butterflies adorning her hair bun shimmered in the wind, playfully reflecting the splendid spring sunshine. This sight drew the frequent glances of passersby.

She’s dressed a bit too flamboyantly.

Zephyr subtly furrowed his brows, maintaining a calm demeanor.

Alexander cleared his throat and said politely. Zephyr, Sadie and I were picking out a birthday gift for Grandmother. We’re just a bit tight on cash right now. Could you possibly lend us some money? I promise we’ll pay you back in the future!”

After he finished speaking, he leaned in close to Sadie’s ear and whispered, Zephyr is rich. If we borrow money from him, we don’t have to pay him back. If he chases us for it, we’ll just deny the debt.”

Sadie was baffled.

She didn’t dare to do that.

The attendant soon led the horse over

Zephyr gracefully mounted his horse, speaking in a nonchalant tone. The value of a birthday present lies in its sentiment, not its price. If you’re short on cash, you can learn lion dancing. A few rolls and flips at the birthday feast would be enough to delight our grandmother. As for Miss Francis..

He cast a sidelong glance at Sadie, his tone laced with malice. Miss Francis, if you wish to give something, you’ll have to figure something out yourself.”

Soon, the steed galloped away swiftly.

Sadie took a few steps back, brushing away the dust that came hurtling toward her.

Alexander expressed his loyalty. Don’t you worry, Sadie. I would never leave you behind! I’m your brother, after all. We’re in this together!”

Sadie gave her handkerchief a little squeeze.

All the money has been spent. What else can we come up with?

She said. You should go ahead with the lion dance. I’ve already decided on my present”

What is it?”

Even though I’m not particularly skilled at embroidering flowers, birds or figures, I can manage lettering. I’m planning to commission someone to pen a birthday wish, then I’ll embroider the words with needle and thread, crafting them into a screen.”

20:00 Wed, 13 Augu

Chapter 7 Never Compare To Daisy

Finished

Alexander responded, That’s easy! The Gates Estate’s library happens to have a collection of calligraphy and paintings. Let me take you there to choose which one you like.”

The library in the Gates Estate was filled with a wealth of books, and the walls were adorned with calligraphy and paintings.

Sadie scanned through each piece, finally settling on one. Whose handwriting is this?”

Alexander leaned in closer. Oh! This belongs to Zephyr. See, his seal is right here. Do you want him to help you write a birthday wish?”

Sadie was speechless.

Would Zephyr help me write a birthday wish?

I doubt so.

Alexander remarked, So, you’re actually fond of Zephyr’s handwriting.”

Sadie shook her head. I don’t like it. His handwriting isn’t appealing.”

“It’s just as detestable as he is..

Alexander stated, OhThere are a few more over there.”

He led Sadie around the row of bookshelves, only to unexpectedly encounter Zephyr sitting by the window.

The young man leisurely closed the book he was holding.

He slowly lifted his gaze, a gentle smile gracing his strikingly handsome face. My handwriting isn’t that great, huh? Is yours beautiful?”

Sadie was utterly baffled.

This guy is everywhere.
