lexander’s POV 

I sat in my office, feeling terrible. Charlotte had just hung up on me, and I knew she was coming to confront me. Regarding her change of major, I had indeed interfered, but I had my reasons. At this moment, however, I didn’t want to face her, nor did I have any desire to work. 

Just as I was rubbing my temples, my secretary came in with some documents and casually mentioned, “I heard from reception that there’s a girl downstairs claiming to be Mr.Kingsley’s wife who wants to see you. I refused her, and security escorted her out. Kids these days really say the most outrageous things.” 

I froze and looked up sharply. “Why wasn’t I informed about this immediately?” 

“Sir, we all know you don’t have a wife,” the secretary replied matter–of–factly. 

I coldly responded, “Is the wedding ring on my finger not visible enough, or are you all blind?” 

The secretary finally noticed the wedding band on my finger and was shocked. “Sir, was that your wife just now?” 

I put down my pen, preparing to go downstairs to find Charlotte, but suddenly stopped. My secretary nervously stammered, “Sir, your wife was just turned away. I, I…” 

“Get out,” I ordered. 

Once alone in my office, I picked up my phone and called my assistant. “Go downstairs and bring Charlotte Cole up here.” 

“The young Mrs. Kingsley?” my assistant inquired. 

“Do I have a second wife I’m unaware of?” I replied, displeased with the question. 

“Of course not, sir. I’ll go bring Mrs. Kingsley up right away,” my assistant quickly corrected himself. 

After hanging up, I sat back down and continued rubbing my temples. Charlotte, oh Charlotte, why did you call me that night asking me to come home? I recalled the day I found out she and Jason were together, and I went to my Marin County villa. If I had stayed there for the night, perhaps I would have let them be together. Yet in the middle of the night, she called me, asking me to come home. 

Suddenly, the office door was kicked open. Charlotte stormed in, her voice sharp: “Alexander Kingsley, what’s your problem? How does me changing my major affect you? Are you my father or my mother? Don’t you have a massive company to keep you busy instead of meddling in my affairs? Are you insane?” 

With a dark expression, I asked, “Are you finished ranting?” 

“No! How does me going to the Business School affect you? Am I spending your money or using your connections? Did marrying you mean I can’t even study what I want? If that’s the case, we can’t continue this relationship, she continued, venting her anger. 

Though filled with rage, I struggled to control myself. She complained further, “Can you stop with this authoritarianism at your age? Just because you have money and power, you think you can control everything about me. Can you stop being so domineering?”

Chapter 34 

I took a deep breath and began to clarify my position: “If you’re changing your major because you truly love the subject, I support you and am willing to provide any help you need. But if you’re doing it to date Jason, to flirt with him right under my nose, I’m warning you–changing majors is minor, transferring schools is possible too! If you and Jason cross the line, I’ll take you and emigrate. You and I are husband and wife. Whatever you had with Jason before, that’s in the past. Now, on your official documents, your spouse’s name is mine: Alexander Kingsley!” 

“Me dating Jason? What kind of brain do you have to say such things?” Charlotte asked in astonishment. 

She continued passionately, “If I were dating Jason, would I have married you? If you’re going to lie, couldn’t you come up with a better excuse? It’s as poor quality as you are.” 

I patiently explained, “You went to movies with Jason, had bubble tea, went shopping, traveled… aren’t you two a couple? Jason has met your parents–haven’t you promised your lives to each other? Jason admitted you had a relationship–is that false? You call me fake, Charlotte, but when have you ever been genuine? On one hand, you maintain lingering feelings for Jason, laughing and joking with him right in front of me without any shame. On the other hand, you string me along, calling me in the middle of the night to come home to sleep, sweet–talking me and calling me ‘baby‘? Are all women like you–hypocritical and insincere?” 

“Alexander, do you think Jason and I were boyfriend and girlfriend?” she seemed to finally understand something. 

“Weren’t you?” I asked. 

“So you’re preventing me from transferring schools and stopping Jason from changing classes because you don’t want us to ‘rekindle old flames‘?” she questioned. 

I didn’t answer directly, just looked at her deeply. “Would you rekindle old flames?” 

“Rekindle my foot! How can you rekindle something that never ignited? How does your brain manage such a large 

corporation? Silicon Valley tech elite? What a joke! Jason is my little follower. How could I possibly develop feelings for my 

little brother? That’s insane, truly!” she exclaimed, suddenly understanding. 

I frowned as I listened, finding it hard to believe that Jason was merely her “little follower” and “little brother.” 

Charlotte calmed down and began explaining her true relationship with Jason in chronological order. 

After she explained all the misunderstandings, I finally understood the truth. It turned out those dates, movies, and shopping trips were with Lily, not Jason. And Jason’s so–called “confession” was only because she used him as a shield, unaware that I was setting a trap for him. 

The dark clouds in my heart dissipated, but then Charlotte punched me: “That’s what you get for not communicating with me and making wild assumptions. You’ve been misunderstanding everything, and it’s driving me crazy.” 

I promptly picked up my phone and called the school leadership: “Hello, this is Alexander Kingsley.” 

After the principal respectfully greeted me, I instructed, “Process Charlotte Cole’s major change normally. Place her in Business Class 2-3.” 

The principal asked, “Mr. Kingsley, what about young Mr. Jason who’s insisting on changing classes?” 

“Keep him where he is. He’s not allowed to go anywhere. He’ll stay in Class 3 to serve his aunt,” I said firmly. 

“His aunt is…” the principal cautiously inquired.

Chapter 34 

“My wife, Charlotte Cole,” I stated directly. 

After hanging up, Charlotte asked in surprise, “Why, why did you acknowledge our relationship? Just a second ago, weren’t you suspecting I had feelings for Jason?” 

“I apologize to you. Misunderstanding you was my mistake,” I admitted honestly. 

“But you shouldn’t have told the principal about our marriage. The school will gossip about me endlessly. Plus, I just became the school’s beauty queen. I don’t want to be a beauty queen who’s already married,” she said anxiously. 

I looked her up and down. “Is being my wife that bad?”
