Chapter 12
I can’t open my eyes yet, but I can hear people speaking around me. Quiet
whispers like they are afraid of being overheard. I recognized Mark, Kelp,
and Doc. Sometimes I hear Alpha when he is there. The doctor chases him
away because the machine beeps to fast. There are other voices, but I don’t
really know them, like the woman who talks to me a lot. I like listening to
her, her soft voice is calming. She likes to tell me stories or how pretty I
am.
The other thing I notice is the smells. Besides the medicine and antiseptic
smells, I notice a dank, mildew, old blood and dying flesh smell. I am not in
a hospital obviously. Have I been sent to the dungeons already? Have all
these people been sent to the dungeons with me? Did they do something to
anger Alpha Thomas?
I need to wake up but no matter how hard I try to open my eyes they just
won’t obey. I try to move my toes, nothing. I try to move my fingers and
they won’t listen. This is so frustrating and tiring.
I must have fallen asleep again. This time when I wake up or what I call
awake, I hear Kelp praising Aza. I do a quick mental check to make sure
she is okay. She’s curled up in the back of my mind dozing and listening to
Kelp.
“Look at you pretty girl. You came back to your girly. You were so brave
and fierce protecting Katia.” I smile because he’s petting my hand the
whole time, he is talking to wolfie. “When Alpha starts having the wolfbane
injectioned and the silver chains put on your girly, it is going to hurt. We
need you to keep resting and growing. Don’t fight against the effects. We
will take care of Katia as much as we can.”
I can tell he is trying to let her know things are going to get worse for
awhile. “Aza, Fishy wants you to stay quiet and sleep so the wolfsbane
doesn’t weaken you to much. He wants to make sure we don’t lose one
another.”
“Don’t worry girly, I’m not going anywhere. I know you will hurt but I
must be strong to help you.”
“How’s our little Alpha Luna, Kelp?” I hear Mark saying and then I hear a
door creaking shut. “I swear she smiled a little while ago when I was
soothing her wolf.”
“Well Alpha Looney is on his way. He wants to see how his toy is doing.
His words- not mine.”
“Mark I really don’t think he understands how bad his behavior is.
Something happened after the mate bond snapped when his fated mate
died.”
“You two do know you have other duties besides guarding the prisoner. The
guards can handle her imprisonment especially since all she does is lay
there hooked to machines.” Alpha is adjusting his pants, not bothering to
hide his erection. “Where is that damn doctor? Why has Katia not awoken
yet?”
“Goddess, Thomas, you disgust me.” Doc bites out entering the room. “You
just don’t get it. That girl died and was brought back several times. You
shredded most of her body. She will wake up when her body can handle it.”
“It had better be soon. I am tired of waiting. I want to play. Plus, she has a
sentence to serve.”
“Your father would be appalled at the way you conduct yourself as an
Alpha.” Doc was standing toe to toe with Thomas. “You will notify me the
moment she is awake. I paid a lot of money for her, and she will repay me
every cent of it back anyway I see fit. I will whip her and fuck her until I
tire of her. Then I will kill her and there is not one fucking thing you or
anyone else can do about it. This is my pack and as Alpha my word is law.”
Walking to the bed, he stops grabs Katia by her jaw and pulls her face
towards him, “Here that Katia? Remaining asleep is not saving you. It is
just pissing me off more.” He shoves her face away and slams out the cell.
“What the hell are we going to do? How are we going to keep him from
snapping and killing her?”
Doc’s forehead is furrowed, and he slaps it, “That’s it! We let him kill her.”
“Whaaat?” both Mark and Kelp say. It was almost comical the way they
said it. Like they misunderstood and couldn’t believe what they heard at the
same time.
“No, hear me out. He has her in the dungeons already and we need to get
her out alive. He won’t let her out unless she is dead. We know he will not
be able to control himself the moment he gets his hands on Katia.”
“And his temper will cause her death. So why save her now?” My poor
Xey, he sounds so defeated.
“No, we must control his actions somehow. Make him think he killed her. I
will have to think about it. We must control his wolf too. Let’s hope our
Luna sleeps awhile longer.
