How dare Tracie stay away for three days?

Didn’t she fear he might actually kick her out of the house?

Or who had given her the courage?

Since Tracie refused to return home, Grover hadn’t planned on contacting her either.

Fortunately, Wendi had Juliana to keep her company. Over the past three days, Wendi had hardly missed Tracie.

“Oliver needs a blood transfusion,” Grover told Juliana, making a quick call. “Have the city’s blood bank search for O-negative blood immediately!”

After issuing the instructions, he turned to Juliana and Wendi. “It’s all sorted now.”

“Is it because Mommy won’t give Oliver a blood transfusion?” Wendi asked, her eyes red.

“Yes.”

“My mommy is so bad! Without her blood, Oliver will die! I hate bad Mommy!” Wendi’s tears streamed down her

face.

Juliana gently patted Wendi’s back to comfort her. “Don’t worry, your dad is figuring it out. Oliver will be fine!”

“My mommy is so bad…” Wendi cried even harder.

Grover’s face grew colder.

Half an hour later, Lesa called.

The O-negative blood had been located, and Oliver had already received the transfusion.

Although Oliver had O-negative blood, it wasn’t impossible to find a match in the city. However, Lesa insisted on us- ing Tracie’s blood because she was a living donor with the same blood type, while the blood in the bank wasn’t as fresh.

“Grover, is Tracie trying to start a rebellion? How dare she refuse to give Oliver a transfusion! Ask her if she wants a divorce!” Lesa’s voice was sharp and furious.

Grover realized that Tracie’s reason for staying away for three days was to use Oliver’s life as leverage to force his hand.

How ridiculous.

Grover quickly dialed another number,

It was Rodger Aguilar, who managed all the finances for the Stanton family. When he answered, his voice was re- spectful. “Mr. Stanton, how may I assist you?”

“From this month on, do not transfer any living expenses to Tracie’s account,” Grover ordered.

Rodger was taken aback.

He had never transferred living expenses to Tracie. That was always Mrs. Stanton’s decision, and she had specifically told him not to tell’ Grover about it.

Rodger hesitated, unsure how to respond.

Finally, he simply said, “Understood, Mr. Stanton. I will stop transferring the living expenses to Tracie from now on.”

Grover hung up immediately.

Rodger muttered to himself, “Six years, and I’ve never transferred a single penny to that unwelcome Tracie. How has she survived all this time? She really is something else.”

The “something else” that Rodger referred to, Tracie, met with her lawyer, Barney Horn, at a cafe on Friday morning.

Barney looked at her seriously. “Tracie, the Stanton family’s assets are worth trillions. Why aren’t you fighting for any of it?”

Tracie gave a helpless smile. “With Grover’s personality and how much he despises me, he wouldn’t give me any- thing. You could try to help me fight for it, but I don’t want my daughter to see her parents tearing each other apart over money.”

“That’s a valid point,” Barney agreed.

Barney asked again, “I get why you don’t want any of the Stanton family’s money, but why are you leaving all your assets-millions of dollars-entirely to Wendi? The Stanton family doesn’t need the money to raise a child!”

Tracie sighed, her voice weary. “It’s the only gift I can give Wendi. I hope that, when she grows up, she’ll remember that she had a mother who loved her.”

Barney’s throat tightened. “Don’t you want to fight for a chance? Maybe your daughter would want to live with you?”

“Fight?” Tracie’s voice suddenly became rough and dark. “Since last summer, Wendi has started to dislike me. She wants Juliana to be her mother instead…”

Barney fell silent.

He didn’t know how to comfort Tracie. Instead, he continued, “Did you submit the divorce agreement to the court as well?”

“Yes.”
