Chapter 12 

“If you had controlled your desires, would you have had a child out of the blue? You’re still making excuses for your mistakes even now. Aren’t you despicable? You’re like trash. Why do you think I’ll take you back?” I asked. 

Before Levi could speak, he was subdued by the bodyguards who had rushed over. Axel’s expression sank. “Levi, you really have a death wish.” 

Axel’s eyes were gloomy. After confirming that I was not injured, he ordered the bodyguards to drag Levi away. 

“Axel, do you think she really loves you? You’re just my substitute.” After Levi finished saying this, Axel knocked him 

unconscious. 

He had heard about my relationship with Levi. After all these years of marriage, Axel still lacked a sense of security. He always felt that I did not love him that much. Watching Axel’s departing figure, I just felt heartbroken. 

Levi kept sowing discord between me and Axel. I wished him dead. 

When I got home in the evening, I was lost in thought as I looked at the wedding photo on the wall. In the photo, Axel was full of love, while I was rather indifferent. 

We had an arranged marriage. I was indeed somewhat impulsive back then, but I had long fallen for this man after all our time together. 

After I took down the wedding photo on the wall, I discovered the secret behind it. Behind the huge photo frame were all my 

photos. Did Axel like me even before I knew him? 

There were even photos of me working part-time distributing flyers when I was in college. My high school graduation photo was also among the photos. 

As soon as he got home, Axel saw me sitting on the couch and looking at the secrets he had hidden. 

He walked over, looking a little scared. “Selina, why did you…” Axel looked as if he had made a mistake and dared not look at me. 

I felt like teasing him. “If you like me so much, why didn’t you pursue me earlier? We wasted so much time. I even ran into that scumbag Levi. The photos are well taken. I like them very much.” 

Axel paused for a moment, scared to believe what he had just heard. “Selina, don’t you blame me?” 

“Why would I blame you?” I asked in confusion. 

“I’m a pervert who stalked you.” 

“Nonsense, you’re not a pervert. I only feel love when I see these.” 

The usually serious man shed tears. “Selina, I won’t ask you to love me. I just want you to stay by my side.” 

“You’re spouting nonsense again. I love you the most. You’re all I have eyes for.” 

I did not understand why Axel had such low self-esteem. He was an excellent person. 

I hired a few detectives to look into his past. 

It turned out that he was abandoned by his biological parents before meeting his current adoptive father. His adoptive father did not know how to take care of children, so he was always cold. Axel always thought his adoptive father disliked him. 

When he was in school, his classmates also disliked associating with him because he was not much of a talker. 

When he was in high school, I always saw him eating bread alone. I thought his family was penniless, so I stuffed a stack of money in his school bag. 

“From now on, you’re under my care. This is your allowance.”

I did not know his name and only gave him money because I felt sorry for him. I did not expect Axel to have been that guy. 

Because of these experiences, I always felt an inexplicable gap between us, even though Axel loved me and we had two children together. I thought I would spend my whole life telling this low self-esteem and sensitive man how much I loved him.
