Chapter 41Â
As he heard the sound of flower petals being thrown behind him, Martin walked out in a daze, each step marking his departure from Evelyn’s life.Â
For the past six months, he had been silently observing her.Â
Her carefree smile was something he had never seen before.Â
Evelyn was always serious, pained, and sorrowful when she was with him.Â
Originally, without her own involvement, she could live a very happy life.Â
He walked back home numbly.Â
This place carried their memories.Â
But there was no trace of her.Â
He gently caressed the secretly taken photo of Evelyn, his eyes filled with longing.Â
Martin swallowed a sleeping pill.Â
In the past six months, he would often toss and turn at night and couldn’t fall asleep, so he had to rely on medication to sleep.Â
The familiar sense of drowsiness came over, and the hand holding the photo gradually loosened.Â

“Mr. Wilson, Mr. Wilson…”Â
So noisy…Â
“Mr. Wilson, wake up, Mr. Wilson, you have been unconscious for five days, please wake up…‘Â
The voice was… George?Â
Martin struggled to lift his heavy eyelids, and what met his eyes was a snow–white ceiling, along with a transparent tube dripping medicine.Â
Seeing him wake up, George was filled with joy and quickly shouted, “Doctor, doctor, come quickly, he’s awake.”Â
Martin felt the familiar pain and there was a hint of confusion in his eyes.Â
Where is this? Wasn’t he at home?Â

The doctor rushed over, examined it, and said, “It’s good that you woke up. Keep observing for two more days, and if there are no issues, we can proceed with the rehabilitation.”Â
Listening to the familiar conversation, Martin was momentarily lost in thought and raised his gaze, asking, “What happened to me?”Â
“You have been unconscious for five days after saving a girl from a car accident, but fortunately, you have been successfully rescued,” the doctor’s gaze carried admiration and appreciation.Â
Girl? Car accident?Â
Did he return to the beginning again?Â
With this in mind, he looked at George with hopeful eyes and cautiously asked, “Is that girl Evelyn?”Â
George was taken aback, a look of sadness appearing in his eyes. “Mr. Wilson, no, the lady has beenÂ
deceased for a long time.”Â
This sentence sounded like a thunderbolt echoing in Martin’s ears.Â
His pupils tightened instantly, as he fought back the pain and prepared to stand up.Â
A piercing pain swept through his body, and he instantly fell onto the sickbed.Â
The pain reminded him that this was not a dream.Â
What did that year count for?Â
Did he have a dream during his coma?Â
However, he saw with his own eyes Evelyn becoming someone else’s wife…Â
George was startled and quickly supported the sweating Martin. “Mr. Wilson, you are seriously injured, please don’t move around.”Â
He helped the person lie down and covered the blanket.Â
And Martin remained motionless, as if his soul had been taken away.Â
For a long time, there was a glimmer of light in Martin’s eyes again.Â
He stiffly turned his head to look at George, his pale lips quivering as he asked, “Is that girl here?”Â
George paused for a moment, understanding what he said, and called the rescued girl over.Â
Martin waited with a hint of anticipation, perhaps, perhaps, that wasn’t fake…Â

The girl arrived quickly, stepping in with light.Â
Martin turned his head and the light in his eyes completely extinguished.Â
It wasn’t her. It wasn’t Evelyn,Â
The girl looked at his reaction, feeling somewhat at a loss, standing still and not daring to move.Â
George waved his hand and she walked in and bowed, saying, “Mr. Wilson, thank you for savingÂ
me.”Â
Martin looked at her for a long time without saying anything, and upon closer inspection, it could be noticed that his eyes were not focused.Â
The girl straightened up and felt that the man in front of her seemed to be looking through her at another person.Â
She hesitated for a moment, but then she spoke up, “After you saved me, you kept muttering the name Evelyn. Is she someone you like?”Â
