“Are you okay?”

A hoarse voice came from above, causing Evelyn to raise her head in astonishment and instantly fall into the man’s bottomless eyes.

She was like a frightened kitten, wanting to jump up but being held by the back of her neck, with nowhere to escape. She murmured, “I’m fine.”

Evelyn felt her head in a mess, not daring to look at the person in front of her, with a faint scent of perfume lingering around her nose.

Looking at the nervous and helpless Evelyn in front of him, Reed’s heart inexplicably softened. He ran his tongue over his palate and chuckled lightly, “Tired of lying, huh?”

“Well, a little.”

Evelyn was indeed a bit tired. She didn’t sleep all night and also struggled all morning. Even her strong body couldn’t withstand it.

“Okay, here I am. I will go to the room and take a rest first.”

Saying that, Reed hugged her and entered the hotel room.

Evelyn was not too at ease, and she was feeling a bit under the weather, with a slight heaviness in

her head.

He fell into a deep sleep as he was gently soothed.

At the moment when I closed my eyes, a thought popped up in my mind.

This person was good.

Watching Evelyn fall asleep, Reed finally left the room.

He lowered his head and glanced at his open hand.

Waist… so slim.

As soon as this thought came to mind, Reed felt a little inappropriate. Immediately, he thought of her reddened eyes and dark circles, and his heart was filled with pity.

After a long while, he finally left, preparing to receive others downstairs.

Evelyn woke up from a particularly deep sleep and started to freshen

up.

The pressure accumulated throughout a lifetime suddenly dissipated, and suddenly I didn’t know

what to do.

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

Evelyn splashed some water on her face to wake herself up before going to open the door.

Reed’s smile came into view as he stepped aside to let the hotel staff in. He glanced at Evelyn’s face

and then nodded with a smile, saying, “Hmm, this is much better now.”

Evelyn awkwardly played with her hair, smiled, and remained silent.

“Let’s eat something first.”

Reed was particularly attentive to her food choices, ordering only what she loved to eat.

She was eating quietly, while Reed was watching beside her.

The eyes were eager, and the warmth was unstoppable.

Evelyn glanced, afraid to look any longer, and her ears turned red.

His heart sank, they were different now.

In the past, they were restrained and observant of etiquette.

Now, it was tentative and ambiguous.

The layers of ripples kept stirring, and people’s hearts were also filled with intoxication.

The clock pointed to two, and Martin, who was fast asleep, suddenly woke up. His forehead was covered in sweat, and his eyes were filled with lingering panic.

It was pitch black all around.

I could only hear the sound of my own rapid breathing, and my heart was filled with a sour pain.

In just a few hours, I had had no less than three dreams.

Vaguely remembering a few fragments, one of them was Evelyn lying on the hospital bed, gasping for breath. He wanted to reach out and hold her hand, but he just couldn’t get close enough.

One dreamt of one’s wedding with Isabel, while Evelyn in the corner covered her face and wept.

eyes were filled with bitterness and sorrow, staring without blinking.

The next dream was Evelyn holding another man’s hand, leaving only a resolute silhouette behind.

These dreams were like a knife that sliced open the heart, causing a cold and intense pain.

Martin chuckled self–deprecatingly, having been married for many years without giving Evelyn a decent wedding. Her departure was destined.

There was another voice in his mind saying, “There is still time, I need to make it up to her in this lifetime.”

His hollow eyes gradually focused, and his gaze became increasingly determined.

In this lifetime, he could not lose her again.

Because Reed’s parents were coming to visit recently.

Evelyn was extremely busy at work and she didn’t even have time to eat.

When she remembered, the clock had already turned to one o’clock in the afternoon, and she had just gone downstairs to deal with a few things.

Martin’s voice came from behind.
